The Kidnapper

Chapter 2:

Jenny thought about getting her phone and texting her mom. Just as she began to reach for it, as if reading her mind, the man spoke.

"I'm not dumb, kid. I know you have a phone and are probably going to text your mom to call the cops. Go ahead. They will never find you." Jenny practically died inside.

"Actually, I want to hear you call your mom, right now, and tell her. Oh, and put it on speaker so I can say hi to Angela." Jenny's stomach turned at the sound of her mother's name coming from him. How did he know her mom's name?

"Do it or you'll know how your dad felt." Jenny pulled out her phone and began dialing her mom's number.

It rang and rang until finally, Jenny heard the one voice that soothed her.

"Hello? Jenny? Is that you?" her mom already sounded worried.

"Yeah mom, it's me. I'm sorry." Jenny was scared to say the next words.

"I've been kidnapped. He forced me to call you. He's right here and wants to talk to you." Jenny listened as her mom's breathing changed from a slow calm breath to fast paced and scared.

"Hi Angela. How have you been?" The man's voice seemed smooth as if he has done this a thousand times.

"Grady? Andrew Grady? You let my daughter go. She has nothing to do with this." Jenny remembered accepting a friend request from Andrew Grady on Facebook. Did she become friends with her dad's killer? 

"Oh, Angela, I would love to let her go, but I'm not going to. If you want her, you come back to me and you stay with me. Forever." What was he talking about? Did he know mom? Did they use to date? This was all to much for Jenny to process. She sat quietly, listening to their conversation.

"Please Andrew!" Her mom pleaded.

"Please, just leave Jenny alone. She has nothing to do with this!" By now her mom was screaming.

Jenny felt tear swelling up in her eyes. Just knowing how much her mom was worrying and possibly risking her life. What if they never saw each other again? Her mom wouldn't make it. Ever since her dad died, Angela had been very protective over Jenny, even while she was at school. Jenny knew what would happen if she lost Jenny. All of Angela's family had died. Her mom, her dad, her brothers and sisters, even her husband. Now, Jenny could be next. Angela would kill for Jenny, even if she had to kill herself, she would. Jenny knew if she died, Angela would be next. Jenny had to escape. She needed a plan and fast.
