-January 5th of the next year-
"Alissa, wake up!" I heard and opened my eyes to see Veronica and Daniel sitting on my bed looking at me. I sat up and eyed them. They were smiling very wide.
"Yes, guys?" I asked, confused. Did I forget something?
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" They both yell at the same time. I face palm. I forgot my own birthday.
"Thanks guys.." I thanked them so maybe they would leave the room.
"Get ready! We have school today, then we're going to go do something fun afterwards!" Veronica told me. I smiled at them.
"Okay, okay. Leave, I'll get ready." Veronica left, but Daniel stayed a little longer.
"Alissa?" He called to get my attention. I turned to him.
"Yes?" He pulled something out of his jacket pocket.
"I have something for you." I stepped closer to him. He handed me a little box with a bow on it. It was small enough to be a necklace or a bracelet. I took the bow off and opened the box. I pulled the necklace out. It was a golden chain with a golden star-like charm.
"Daniel, it's beautiful. Help me put it on?" He smiled and nodded, his hands reaching out for the necklace. I turned my back to him and lifted my hair so he could put the necklace on. Once it was on, I turned to him with an even wider smile. "Thank you so much, I love it." I hugged him and he hugged back. I pulled away and looked at him.
"You're welcome. I'll leave and let you get ready." He said and started to walk away.
I started to pick out an outfit. I decided on a pink cropped sweater and a pair of dark blue jeans. For shoes, white sneakers was the choice I went with. I also put my Serpent jacket on that I received a few months after knowing my brother and my dad. Of course I still lived with V though.
For hair, I braided a crown at the top and continued it down to the end. I looked in the mirror and decided that my outfit was complete. I walked out of my room and downstairs to the lobby where Daniel and V were waiting for me. "Let's go." I smiled at them as I walked past them. I hopped on my bike and looked at them. "Meeting you guys there or what?"
They rolled their eyes. "Yeah." V confirmed. "Go on, birthday girl." I waved goodbye to them and rode over to Sunnyside so I could see my dad and probably my brother as well.
I parked in his yard and walked into his house. "Hey, dad. Jug, you here?"
My dad walked down the hallway and towards me. He smiled and hugged me which I instantly hugged him back.
"Happy birthday." He said as he hugged me tighter.
"Thanks dad, can't breathe." I chuckled and he let me go.
"I'm sorry, kid."
"It's okay. Where's Jug?" As if on cue, he walked down the hall wearing a towel around his waist and drying his hair with another one.
"I'm here, sis." Then I saw Betty step behind him. Surprisingly, she had clothes on. Her and I still don't get along, but she's dating my brother so I can't really say anything. I just kindly rolled my eyes at seeing her. I looked at my brother and stepped closer to him. "Happy birthday." He smiled.
"Thank you." I told him. "Go put clothes on." I giggled. He laughed and went to his room. He came out in his normal attire and we hopped on our bikes and headed to school. I walked through the doors to find my friends. People still looked at me daily for some reason. I've been here for close to a year and people still have their eyes on me. I saw a few of the Serpents and waved at them.
