Chapter 12: Love You Goodbye

I woke up to a gut wrenching sound. I rubbed my eyes and everything from last night started replaying in my head. I realized Harry wasn't laying next to me anymore, but he left a note on the coffee table.

I got up to go check on Derek and he wasn't in the bed anymore. He was in the bathroom with his head in the toilet.

"Liv I'm apologizing now for whatever happened last night, but please babe. This is punishment enough right now." Before I could say anything else he threw up again.

I texted Harry good morning but he didn't reply so I figured he was busy in the studio. I watched the morning news for a little while and decided to go back in and check on Derek. He was back in bed and the Tylenol was gone so I assumed he took one and went back to sleep. I turned to leave the bedroom but before I could,

"Wait liv." Derek groaned. I inhaled a deep breath ready for whatever he was about to say.

"I'm sorry for whatever I did last night. I have no idea what happened. Last thing I remember is being in an Uber." His words were muffled because he had a pillow over his face I'm assuming cover his eyes from any type of light.

"I'm sorry for not telling you what Harry did. I shouldn't have done." I went to sit on the bed with him and I grabbed his hand to let him now I was there.

"Lay with me please?" He begged.

"Yeah I'll be right back. I'm gonna go get my phone and turn off the TV in the living room."

I went to turn off the TV and noticed something stuck between the couch cushions. Derek's phone. I grabbed it and noticed he never opened my message, so I deleted it. We had too much already to deal with and we didn't need anything else. I grabbed another water and a Tylenol just in case he needed another one when he woke up again.

I walked in our bedroom and Derek had fallen asleep again. I set everything on my night stand, including his phone and got in bed next to him. I sat up though so I could play on my phone and Derek put his arm across my lap. He didn't have a T-shirt on so I started scratching his back because that was his favorite thing.

"I love you." He said and then fell back asleep and let our soft snores.

*bzz bzz*

o: yes, just really bad hangover. hes asleep rn

I put my phone up and started getting sleepy myself. Thank god Derek didn't have a meeting today, and I'm glad school was out. Sadly, that just meant it was getting closer to Christmas and I hadn't even thought about what we were gonna do. It would be mine and Derek's first Christmas away from our families, but I was happy to start our own traditions.

It was 1:30 when we finally got up and I finally woke up to Derek.

"How are you babe?"

He rubbed his eyes and stretched out his arms, "I still got a small headache."

I got up and handed him some more Tylenol.

"Thanks babe." He swallowed the pill and puckered his lips like he wanted a kiss.

"Ohhhh no not until you go brush your teeth and then I'll still have to think about it." I laid back down and we both started laughing.

"You know we still need to talk about everything." He said starting to get serious.

I groaned and sat up. "What do you want to talk about?" I started playing with a lose thread on the sheets and he grabbed my hands.

"I just want to make sure we are on the same page here. I don't want to have my heart broken, so if there's anything else that needs to be said say it now." He looked into my eyes and I had never felt so much guilt and pressure fall on me.

I scooted closer to him and let out a long sigh. "First I wanna start with last night you called me a whore."

His face fell and I could tell he immediately felt bad about it.

"Before you say something I already forgive you for it. I guess I kind of deserved it. And..." I turned my head away so I didn't have to look at him when I said this.

"Harry and I hung out again last night."

His sadness was wiped away with confusion.

"Wha— why? I don't get it?" He wasn't yelling so maybe we could actually have a civil conversation now.

"Well you left yesterday and wouldn't answer your phone so Harry called me and asked to hang out." I was playing with the loose thread again.

"So you went???" His voice was starting to get louder. 

"Yes I went because he's my friend and I'm allowed to be friends with people." I stood up off the bed and folded my arms.

"OLIVIA? Are you serious right now? Friends DONT KISS FRIENDS?"

"Derek, Harry and I talked about that-" I was cut off by Derek blowing up again.

"Olivia I can't deal with this you are so oblivious." He got up off the bed and started putting clothes on.

"Are you gonna leave again so we can do this over again tomorrow?" I yell back at him.

He looked me in the eyes and said, "No. I'm leaving... I'm gonna go stay at a friends house for a while." He started to pack his bags.

"So you're just gonna run away from your problems???"

"Olivia I don't think you're on the same page as me but you're too oblivious to see that... I think we both need time away. We've been together since we were 16 years old and now I'm letting you choose if you want to live your life freely or start settling down. I can't keep waiting for you." He finally calmed down and I could tell his eyes were tearing up. Mine were too.

"But... I love you Derek." I tried to go towards him to grab his hand but he jerked it away before I can touch him.

"I love you too. But sometimes it isn't enough." He looked at me kissed my cheek.

"I'll probably come back later to get the rest of my stuff but this is what I can get for now. We just need a break liv."

"Derek wait please don't leave we can talk this out." I followed him to the door and as he opened it her turned around with tears streaming down his face and said one last thing.

"I love you, goodbye."
