Two months have passed. We had the funeral for our parents, I contacted James and he came and did the interview for the articles, then he started writing the book about my life. Today is Valentine's Day and we get to find out the sex of our twins. Also we get to bring Aaron home from the hospital.
"Are you ready for today?" I ask Nik as he drives us to the hospital.
"Yeah. These past two months have been hard but I am ready to find out what we are having. I'm also ready for Aaron to be home."
"Do you think Aaron will like his new room?"
"Yeah..."
I grab his hand. "What is it, my love?"
"I just miss our parents. Its been weird not having them there." A tear rolls down his cheek.
I squeeze his hand. "I know. It will take time to get used to it. But they wouldn't want us to mourn their death. They would want us to celebrate their lives. They would want us to keep pushing forward and live life to the fullest."
He smiles. "You are the most amazing woman I know. I love you, wife." He kisses the back of my hand.
"I love you too, husband."
We get to the hospital and he helps me out of the car. We go inside and check in for the ultrasound. After a few minutes "Riley Freeman..." a nurse calls out. We follow her to the ultrasound room.
The doctor comes in. "Are you two ready to find out what your having?" He asks with a smile.
"I am so ready." I say.
"So what are you wanting?" The doctor asks as he starts getting my belly ready.
"Well, I want a boy and a girl. Nik wants two girls."
The doctor puts the jelly on the wand, then puts it on my belly. He moves it around. "Well Riley, you are getting what you want. Your having a boy and a girl."
I smile wide. "Told you Nik." He smiles at me and kisses my forehead. "How is everything looking doc?" I ask.
"Everything is looking perfect. Good strong heartbeats. They are a little bigger than expected but that just means they are extremely healthy. 4 more months and you get to see your little ones. Have you guys been thinking about names?"
I smile. "Yeah, for the girl, her name will be Bridget Elaine, after our mothers. The boy will be Steven Noah, after our fathers. Don't tell anybody doc. No one knows. We want to wait until the baby shower to tell everyone the names. But they will find out the sex soon."
"Those names are perfect. Your parents would be so proud of you both."
"Thanks doc." Nik says with tears in his eyes. I squeeze his hand. "Is Aaron ready to go?"
"That young man, has been a pain. He kept trying to escape this past week. I think he is ready to get out of here. I gave him a clean bill of health so you can take him."
"Of course he has been a pain." I say. We all laugh. Nik and I say goodbye to the doctor.
On the way up there I stop Nik. "I want to wait to tell Aaron. I want to tell him when we get home. Our friends will already be there for the welcome home party, so we can tell them all at the same time."
"Ok, but he is going to bug us about it until then."
We both laugh and finally make it up to Aaron's room. We walk in to find him arguing with a nurse. "I don't need a damn chair. I can walk fine on my own."
"It's the protocol. You have to leave in the chair." The nurse says. Then she sees me. "Riley, dear, tell him."
I look to Aaron. "Just get in the damn chair. Quit arguing. I'm sure your ready to get out of here."
