Chapter 11: Disney Channel
Carter's POV
I was sitting on the gym bleachers trying to see if I could get any connection on my phone when Cole walked in and came and sat down next to me.
"Any Luck?" He asked, raising his eyebrows in an upward motion at me.
I sighed and shook my head. "Nope. How can I literally have no connection?I don't know about you, but I think that's suspect."
He chuckled at me. We then were just sitting there in silence. Not a comfortable one but not an awkward one either. Cole then turned his head to look at me.
"On a scale from 1-10 how much does Rose hate me?" He asked. I looked at him to see that he was actually hurting.
Wow. I never in my life ever expected to see that look on his face.
"Cole I don't think that she hates you. I think that she's just...scared of you." I reply.
He grunts. "That's great. That's exactly what I needed to hear."
I sighed. "Rose is so...Innocent and small. She hates violence, and you my friend tried to punch Tanner's face in."
He sighed again. "I know I know I may have over-reacted a little."
"A little?" I asked, smirking at him. He glared at me. I put my hands up in a surrendering motion.
"What were you guys even fighting over? We got to you guys when punches were already being thrown."
I shook my head. "You don't want to know. He had said something about my mom's death and I just snapped."
Mom's death? I didn't know that he had lost his mom. Shit if someone had said something about my mom and she was dead, I would've thrown a couple punches too.
"I felt like I was in a Disney channel movie." He says.
I smile and looked up at him. "What? Why?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. You know how Disney channel movies are, the over-dramatize everything. I didn't have to hit him, because what he said was 100% right."
I looked at him. "They do take everything to the next level. One tap and the person goes flying into space."
Cole starts laughing and I join in.
"I couldn't have explained it better." We're both laughing uncontrollably for no reason talking about different Disney Channel movies.
"OOOH, you remember High School Musical?"
I roll my eyes at him and smirk. "How could I possibly forget? One second the bitch is just talking, the next moment she's singing 'YOU ARE THE MUSIC IN MEEEEEE!'" I say imitating Gabriella, the main character.
He starts laughing.
"I use to hate watching that with my little cousins. God it was so depressing." He says.
"Oh stop lying. You know you use to watch the sing-alongs."
He sucked his teeth and made a grunting noise.
I laughed at his sour expression.
"One thing that I loved about Disney Channel though was that my mom loved it. I never liked it but she did. Even at 35, she would sit down every night and watch it after she got done with her work. She would laugh along with all the corny jokes, she would cry with every sad moment, and she would watch all the movies that always came on around 8:00. I never understood why she liked Disney channel so one day I asked her and you know what she said? She said this: 'Life is so full of bad endings. People dying, people lying, people stealing and killing that there's no more room for happy endings. I guess that's how life is, but there still are some happy endings left. We just fail to mention them. That's why I love Disney Channel, even as a grown women. Because I get to see there happy endings, even if they aren't real, an ending is an ending, no matter what story you're writing."
