Rose's POV
I walked in the library to return The Hunger Games. This is my 4th time reading it. It just never gets old. I then spot Cole sitting at a table reading.
I quietly walk up behind him. "BOO!" I yell.
He doesn't even flinch.
He turns around and grins at me. "THAT was an epic failure"
I smile at him and shrug my shoulders. "Whatever. What you reading?
He shows me the cover of the book. It was called Street Lawyer by John Grisham. I nod my head.
"You?" He ask, looking at my book.
"Hunger Games, AGAIN."
He grunts.
"What?" I ask.
"That series is so unrealistic." He says.
I roll my eyes at him, "Well it is fiction"
He shrugs his shoulder. "Its stupid."
I gasp. "It is NOT! Take that back right now."
He smirks, "No."
I glare at him, "And how exactly is it STUPID?"
"Katniss is like invincible. She has done so much dumb shit that she should be dead. I mean like really. She defied the capital, broke the force field, got president Snow killed, and she was so caught up in being the Mockingjay that Prim got killed! I mean come on, She should've had a better protection detail over Prim. Oh and to FUCKING top it all off, there was a love triangle. Hoo-ray!" He says the last part sarcastically.
"She did NOT get Prim killed. Everything that she did was for Prim. She went into the Hunger Games for Prim."
He shakes his head at me, "And DO NOT even get me started on the second book. Katniss Everdeen breaks the Force field." He says, like he was announcing the winner of a game show.
"And what's wrong with that?" I challenge.
"It means she's fucking UNTOUCHABLE! Superman ain't got shit on Katniss." He says.
I start laughing.
"Wow. But honestly, would you want a boring main character? One who doesn't do shit but sit on the sidelines and watch Superman save the world?" I ask.
"No. But you always read the books about the girl whose mind can't be read,(TWILIGHT) or the girl who turns out to be divergent (Divergent), or the boy who turns out to be a fucking half-god (Percy Jackson). There's only one hero in every book, but there's lot of sidekicks that no-one ever cares to mention." He replies.
I smile at him. Not bad Cole, not bad at all.
"You should write a book Cole." He looks up at me and chuckles.
"What?" I ask.
"My mom used to say that I should write a book, it just reminded me of her." He says, giving me a sad smile.
I look at him like it was the first time. "What happened? If you don't mind me asking."
He shook his head at me. "No, its ok. She died of Cancer, Leukemia." He starts. "Snatched her right out my world in the matter of seconds. I didn't even see it coming, you know? One minute she's this strong healthy woman, the next she's in a hospital bed, not even able to breathe on her own." He's staring off in space now.
I keep silent so that he can continue.
"Want to know what the worst part about it was?"He starts, giving me a bitter laugh. "She was the most God-fearing person that I had ever met. She went to church every week, gave food to the homeless, went to visit the children's hospital once a week to visit dying kids. I just never understood how she was taken away from me. How could A GOD of compassion, A GOD of Grace, A GOD of LOVE take away a strong willed person like my mom? I guess you can say that after that, I just gave up. Started hanging out with the wrong type of people, getting in trouble with the law, and lots more. I just went nuts. I know that if she was here right now she wouldn't even recognize the monster I've become. She'd be so ashamed." He says. He looked as if his heart was breaking into a million pieces.
