Waking up next to him put a smile on my face everyday. Regardless of us being unemployed, without a single penny, & about to become stagnant in our careers... I guess we were happy.

"Hi, my love," He mumbled in my hair, a ray of sunshine hitting our skin softly.

I wanted to stay like that.

"Mhmm..." I stuttered, fighting to fall back asleep. I turned around to face the love of my life and snuggled into his chest, taking in his chocolate scent.

"What do you want for breakfast, beautiful?" He whispered, trying not to disturb me too much.

Cute.

"Well..." I passed my hand through his hair messily and finally opened my eyes. "You."

Martin smirked slightly, his hungry eyes wandered around my almost naked body easily, like it was his own. He had seen it a thousand times, yet, he always seemed to find a new fascinating trait.

Suddenly, a known melody interrupted our little moment, my phone was ringing under the pillow. I grabbed it quickly, annoyed at whoever was calling, I didn't even bother to check who it was.

"What?" I basically snapped.

"Do not 'what' at me!" Sophie snapped back, noticeably offended.

I rolled my eyes at my best friend.

"Sophie, it's 9AM on a Sunday...–"

"–Yet you, little missy, sound wide awake!"

I looked up at Martin and smiled slightly.

"Sophie, I'm putting you on speaker!" I told her as I changed the settings on my phone.

"Ooh! 9AM and I'm about to be on speaker? You spent the night with someone, huh? Spill the deets, girl! I want inches!" She whispered.

"Um... I'm here, you," Martin whispered back with a smirk.

"Oh, shit... I thought—"

"–It's... okay... Haha," I managed to mumble, even though everything she said was absolutely normal to me, I still felt my cheeks burning thinking of what had happened that night.

"What's up Mar-tini?" I was grateful to see how hard she was trying to move the shame from me to herself. I shook my head at her terrible 'joke'.

"I'm actually doing pretty good. I woke up next to an actual angel today thanks to you," He said blowing me a kiss at the end.

I couldn't help but blush. I hated it. I hated how much control he had over me.

"What, what? What did I miss? What did I do?" She asked him breathlessly.

"You encouraged her to follow her heart."

"Aaah, that? Nonsense, I knew right from the start you two lovebirds would end up together, I'm completely sure. You never needed any help. Melissa called me after dumping Jer. I had nothing to do with that."

I smiled innocently at Martin, who was staring at me surprised. I never told him the whole story of my breakup with Jeremy, I guess it was time.

"Why did you call, Soph?" I asked, a hint of annoyance in my voice, I wanted her to shut up so badly...!

"Right!" She started. "I know you guys lost your jobs, it's all over social media. I feel very sorry for you guys, I do, however... I have a proposition to get you back on track!"
