After packing some of my clothes, I found out that now its 9AM and that my parents are ready to leave for work. I went down the stairs slowly holding my suitcase.
"I decided to go and stay in New York with Jane" I said while looking at both of them. They both looked older and tired. For the first time I feel like they are lost and don't know what to do.
"If that will make you happy, Its fine" said mom with a sore voice.
While I started to turn to leave I heard my dad saying"For how long?"
"Till I am okay with this sudden changes" I took some time to answer as I don't know for how long "and don't worry I will be in Patricks wedding" and with that I was out of the door.
...............................................................
The plane to New York only passed with my mind thinking about my parents. Sleep didn't come to me even though I didn't sleep the day before.
The first thing I did after taking my luggage and exiting the airport is to look for a taxi and head directly to Manhattan.
Upon exiting the taxi in front of central park, I saw a tall ancient beautiful building which I know is where Jane lives.
"Excuse me I am here for Jane Bill please" I said softly to the doorman.
"I will have to call her first" He said who's name is David which I caught in his name tag.
I took that time to admire the reception which will have you think that a queen lives here.
"Whats your name miss?" Said David getting me out from my own world
"Emily" and with that being said I was ushered to the elevators with my bag.
The button of 10th floor is lit and I am in my way up.
Upon seeing me Jane opened her arms and let me fall in it without asking a thing.
2 weeks have passed with me sleeping and eating and Jane by my side supporting me silently as always.
Even though I am a talkative person, It seems that I don't have the power to tell the story. I didn't cry but I didn't feel happy either. I was in a state where nothing exist. But as always Jane didn't quit and made me get dressed and out of the house.
"Okay Enough is enough" said Jane entering the guest room which I claimed it as mine till I leave.
"What do you mean"
"You have been silent and crying and you actually stink and have to take a shower" she did have a fair point from taking a shower daily to not taking one for a whole 2 weeks I sure do smell.
"Look Emma, we don't have to talk about whatever happened even though I have to tell you that both your parents are calling few times a day to check on you, Just get up from the bed, take a shower and lets go out for few hours. How does that sound?"
And with that I took her advice and got up
"You know. I don't want you to talk as I don't want to know. Just feel better" said Jane while we were strolling around central park drinking strawberry smoothie.
"I am better Jane. Thank you so much for everything."
"I didn't do anything." After moments of silence "I am hungry lets go eat in Olives" and with that we headed to the restaurant which we both love. The worst part is that I didn't have the appetite to eat even though the food looks wonderful and appealing.
"Just take a bite Em or I swear I will eat it all and leave you hungry." I decided to forget about my parents and enjoy my steak plate.
A bite is then followed by another and within minutes I found the plate almost finished.
"From all the places that we could meet. I didn't think it will be here." Came a masculine voice came from behind me.
"Michael. I thought you were in Greece." Said Jane while giving Michael a hug. Michael was Jane's distant cousin they weren't close even though we were in the same school but somehow with both of them in New York together they became inseparable.
All I can say is that Michael didn't change a bit. Still the beautiful deep ocean eyes that I can get lost into, the dimple smile and silky not too short not too long hair. He noticed me looking and turned to me with a grin.
"Of course you remember Emma" said Jane gesturing to me.
"Emma is not a lady that can be forgotten easily." He said then suddenly his attention was fixed at me "It has been long" he said looking at me with that soft look that I have engraved in my brain.
"Yes it has. 7 years to be exact"
"Still beautiful I see"
"Still flirty I see" and with that he started to laugh
"Unfortunately I am with some people, but we will have to meet soon. I want to know about your abouts" He said in a hurry while looking at 2 tables behind us where a beautiful blonde is sitting glancing at us
"Sure. Call Jane so we can arrange it"
"I am really happy that I got to see both of you. Enjoy your meal"
"Thanks Michael. You too" I said thinking that I won't get to see him again. He seems busy.
The rest of the meal was spent with Jane and I talking about Patricks wedding with me stealing glances at Michael and his date. Thankfully We didn't stay long at the restaurant. While walking out of the restaurant I did my best not to look at his table. I just wanted to go back to my almost bedroom.
