6. 死神 (Shinigami)

(M/n) didn't know what to do. He didn't want to seem suspicious. He didn't want Light hurting Matsuda, someone he was close to. He tried to mask the fear that was threatening to overtake him, and he blessed Light with a broad smile despite his now deep-rooted hatred for him. 

Light chuckled and slipped his hands into his pockets. He was acting so nonchalant. That shithead! The only reason he was acting like he was happy was because he didn't want to risk Matsuda getting suspicious about him. (M/n) knew just how dangerous of a game he was playing with this bastard.

(M/n) had to find a way to escape this situation. He wasn't going to leave with the brunette. Surely, he'd do something to silence him, ensuring that he never uttered a word again.

"Date?" Matsuda asked curiously with a smirk, staring down at (M/n). (M/n) tensed at his expression but tried not to break his façade. Surprisingly. . . He found himself blushing. He averted his eyes from Matsuda.

"U-Um, well I-" (M/n) spoke, about to deny that they had planned to go on a date, but Light interrupted him before he could continue.

"Come on, Jae ~ I'm sorry, you must've been upset that I became so busy, huh? Well, I assure you that my timetable is entirely free right now and there's some room in it for my precious love." Light cooed with a small pout on his lips.

A scowl crossed (M/n)'s lips as he observed the older. He really knew how to put on a show. . . He was asking to go out with him right in front of Matsuda so (M/n) couldn't find a way to reject him. He let out a shaky breath. Matsuda was kind. Too kind. Matsuda gently grasped his arm.

"I think you should enjoy the rest of your day, Jaehyung. I won't mind if you go on a date as long as you're careful and come home at a suitable time. I'm sure Light will keep you safe. You had a close shave with Kira, he could've easily eliminated you. Keep vigilant at all times and stay close to Light."

Oh. . . The irony. Matsuda believed Light was strong enough to protect him but not strong enough to kill him. How could he reject the proposal now?! Matsuda urged him to move forwards.

"Alright, alright! I'll go! Jeez, you don't need to push me." (M/n) grumbled sullenly, pulling out of Matsuda's grip. (M/n) made the rest of his way over to Light. He walked over confidently, a happy expression flashing onto his features. It hid the panic that was growing inside of him. What was going to happen once he was alone with Light?. . .

Light's POV

Matsuda was making this so much easier for him. He knew that it was a good idea to confront Jaehyung when he was with the other. He tried not to ooze with pride as Jaehyung strode over to him. 

He clasped the younger's hand once he was close enough, feeling it stiffen in his hold. Was his fearless Jaehyung . . Actually scared? He wanted to laugh but kept it in. He pulled Jaehyung closer.

"Where shall we go, hmm?" He questioned softly. 

Light. . . You know we can still make the eye deal. You can have my eyes just for half your lifespan! You can see Jaehyung's real name and get rid of him before he reveals his suspicions to anyone. Ryuk wagered. 

He had been bothering him about this deal for a while now and it was honestly starting to get on his nerves. He gave a small shake of his head before giving his entire attention to Matsuda.

"Don't worry, Matsuda-san! I'll bring him home soon, safe and sound." Light reassured him. As if he would. Idiot. He watched Matsuda's stupid smile as he provided them with a wave and then walked off.

"Whatever you think of doing to me, I won't let you do it." Jaehyung hissed with anger glittering in his eyes. Oh! What a feisty one! He pinned Jaehyung to the wall, in the eyes of everyone. Ryuk watched as Light cornered the poor boy and trapped him between his arms. Light used his forefinger and thumb to forcefully make Jaehyung look up at him. He tilted his head, grinning.
