CHAPTER FOUR.
One bright morning on Daniella's daily visit, she had a terrible fight with her sister which turned out to make everything worse. She didn't understand why her sister became so mad at her.
"Is there anyone home" she screamed on entering the room.
There was no response until she screamed for the third time. It was Sandra who came out from the kitchen with a napkin in her hands.
"Good morning sister" she greeted wiping her hands with the napkin
"How are you today" Daniella asked
"I'm fine and hope you're fine too" she replied
"Yes sister, I took a day off from work so decided to spend it with you" Daniella informed her making herself comfortable on the sofa
"That's so thoughtful of you but you shouldn't be doing all these. I appreciate everything you do for me and I think it's becoming too much."
"Don't say that. I owe you so much for such risk you're taking."
Sandra only stared at her sister.
"Where's daddy and Bruno" she asked when Sandra stopped speaking
"They left for work early today" she told her
Daniella asked to take her leave after spending almost the whole day with her. But Sandra stopped her when she was about to open the door.
"I want to ask you something" she told her
"Sure go ahead"
"Hope you give me a sincere answer"
"Don't worry sister, ask anything you feel like asking"
"Would you ever tell the baby I carried it in my womb even though you are the real mum"
Daniella was stunned by the question. What on earth made her think of such a question, she wondered.
"But Sandra, what sort of question is this. We will all be mother to the baby and love her the same. There's no need telling her who carried her or not" Daniella explained to her sister
"I know she would be daughter to both of us but I want to know if you would tell her I carried her."
"But how would that information be of benefit to her. All the child has to know is that we both are the mothers. No need giving such an information to her."
All this time she was trying to convince her sister, she was also getting angry and confused. She couldn't understand why she wanted that baby be told who carried it. She was beginning to regret having taken such a decision since she thought if that information is being said to the baby when she grew up, she would end up loving Sandra more than she, Daniella.
She stood there so confused not knowing what to say because she refused to understand her. Sandra also stood expecting an affirmative response to her question. She wanted the baby to also acknowledge her since she thought the couple might forget her after she had given birth to the child. Staring at each other in a confused state, Daniella finally broke the silence.
"But sister why do you want this information be told to her"
"I'm just scared that you would forget me after I've given birth" Sandra said
"Don't ever say that sister, you would never be forgotten for such a big sacrifice you've made"
The two argued for a while trying to make the other understand their point of view. It didn't really turn out to what they expected. Everyone saw their point to be right. The argument turned out to be a heated one making Daniella leave the place really angry. She didn't understand her sister.
Sandra was also bored not understanding her sister. Thinking of what to do, she thought of something which she saw as the only option the baby would know she carried her and also call her mother. After weeks of that argument between the two sisters, Daniella decided to visit her sister since she stopped visiting after that incident. She cooked Sandra's favorite food for her, packed it in a nice bowl and bought some other gifts for her. She arrived at the house some few minutes later but was shocked at what she saw. The main gate of the house was left ajar with everything scattered in the compound. The door to the house was also left unlocked, she found all the stuffs in the room scattered. That was not how Sandra would leave the house making her wonder what was wrong. She thought that maybe thieves had broken into the house but seeing the television and other expensive things around, she was sure she was mistaken. She entered the kitchen but no one was there too.
"Sandra! Sandra! Bruno! Daddy! Daddy! Sandra! Sister "she called out several times but there was no response. She became worried seeing the house empty. Her worst fear became true when she entered Sandra's bedroom.
"How on earth could Sandra do this to me" she cried
The room was scattered with all her clothes gone away from the wardrobe. All her cosmetics were gone and her medications too. She cried out loud cursing the day she made such a decision whilst heading towards Bruno and Daniel's room. She found their room also in the same state which she found her sisters room.
"Why Sandra? Why?" She cried out loud falling onto the ground
"What didn't I do for her? What did I do to deserve such a thing?" She said all these with pain as she never expected such a thing from her own sister. She could not believe why her sister had done that. She left for her home in pains and cried for hours until Martin arrived home. He was confused seeing her in tears and tried unsuccessfully for several times to make her speak.
After several attempts, she finally spoke and the words hit Martin so hard.
"Martin, they ran away" she said with tears filling her eyes again.
"Who and why?" He asked confused. "Be calm and explain to me. I don't understand one bit of what you're saying. Explain to me well."
She calmed down shortly and explained everything to him. She told him about the argument they had the other time and why it happened and how she found the house deserted with all their personal belongings gone.
"But why would they do that" he asked worriedly
"I should have never trusted them, she has always been a liar. I know Daniel told her to do what she did, he's always been jealous my mum didn't marry him" she blurted out angrily. She now felt only hatred towards Sandra and her family. She regretted being her sister and having the same blood with her. Martin tried calming his wife down but that only worsen the case.
"Don't say that Daniella. You are saying all these just because you are bored. Maybe they have a reason and would come back very soon. Just be patient and calm." Martin assured her
"No Martin. They are all liars, they tricked us, and they failed us. Can't you see?" she cried
It took a long time for him to calm her down.
"But why would Sandra do this" was all he kept asking himself. She was too decent for this behavior.
