"Dear mum,
I'm really sorry for what I just did. I have no other choice than to leave for the city. I really want to continue my education in the city since they have the resources to give me a better insight on the course I will be studying. I have some little savings on me which I would use for accommodation and pay my fees. I would do some odd jobs to take care of myself. I'm so sorry mum. I hope you understand and forgive me. I love you.
                                                                  Your daughter
                                                                                     Lisa.
"Daddy. Lisa run away" Sandra cried and shouted in pain calling her dad. She saw the white envelope with the letter lying under the television remote on the center table. She read it only to find the heartbreaking message.
"What's wrong Sandra" he said rushing towards her
"Lisa ran away. She went without my approval and didn't inform any of us"
Daniel took the letter from the table and read it. He was shocked at what he read. He didn't believe Lisa would take such a big step to leave the town. But in a way he couldn't blame her since that's what she thought was good for her.
"Keep calm dear, she's a kid" he tried defending his grand daughter
"Kid you say dad. How can someone who leaves her family to the city all by herself be called a kid."
"Come on, you've got to understand her. That's her future we are discussing here. We can't decide for her. You have to understand her Sandra. Your past can't stand in the way of your daughter's future."
Sandra kept calm and thought about what her daddy had said. She saw it not to allow the past haunt Lisa since it may cause trouble. Her heart calmed down knowing Lisa would take care of herself and not disappoint her.

Lisa arrived at the city late in the evening. She had nowhere to go to or stay. Lucky enough, she saw a woman whom she guessed was in her late thirties closing something which seemed liked a shop. She approached her and greeted
"Good evening ma'am"
"Good evening. Do you need anything?"
"No and yes" she stammered
"Be serious and speak. I'm about leaving and you can see for yourself."
"Ermmm ma'am, I just came to the city and don't have a place to go to. I would be glad if you allow me sleep here for the night"
"Sleep here? How? I don't even know you so how can I trust you"
"Trust me ma'am, you can keep some of my money with you"
She watched Lisa for some time and felt pity for her.
"I hope you don't make me loose the trust" she said and handed the keys to Lisa. Something about Lisa made her trust her easily and she didn't know why.'
"Thank you so much ma'am, I promise not to disappoint you" she said happily and entered the shop. It was a mini eatery after all. She found an old mattress which the woman had shown her. It was very flat and she was sure she wouldn't be comfortable but that was better than none.

Mrs. Rita was very happy at the sight of the eatery the next morning. Every corner was neatly cleaned and all the tables arranged. The dirty utensils were washed neatly, the kitchen sinks and floor sparkled. There was no trace of dirt anywhere. Mrs. Rita was marveled and surprise since she never expected her old eatery to sparkle like this.
"Good morning ma'am" Lisa greeted her noticing the surprise on her face
"How did you do all this" she asked not responding to Lisa's greeting.
Lisa only smiled at her.
"I wish you work here with me." Mrs. Rita said
"I would love to, but maybe part time so I can save some money and still be able to go to school."
"There's no problem. Thank you so much. I didn't even ask of your name. I'm Mrs. Rita"
"I'm Lisa"
They conversed for a while which after they started working. Lisa helped to cook most of the food. Mrs. Rita was very surprised at how she cooked. All the foods she cooked tasted very nice. She received most customers that day than she received in years. She was so glad and hoped Lisa stayed forever. Lisa received her daily income which she kept very well. She didn't spend much money from it as there was everything available. She thanked God for making her settle in good hands at the city. She prayed always and for God's blessing upon Mrs. Rita. She left the eatery one early morning after work and set out to look for the college. She chattered a taxi which alighted her right in-front of the college. She couldn't believe she was standing in-front of the college she had dreamt of all her life. It was one of the biggest college in the country and known for its excellence in academics. She headed inside and asked a lady where to find the administration block. Staring at the tall buildings and people, she went straight all this time wondering how learning will be done. Many questions popped up in her mind which she didn't have any answers to. She waited for her turn as the queue was very long at the time she reached.
