Stony (They're in college)

2016

Tony stood staring at the statue of captain america. The flag it held was being blown in the wind by the cool night breeze. "Its only been a few years and yet... it feels like I just said goodbye to you," said tony as a tear fell.

Pepper and happy were waiting patiently by the car. It had been three years and it wasn't getting any easier.

--- AVENGERS TOWER ---

Steve approached the tower entrance with a hopeful smile on his face. Once inside he walked to the receptionist and asked if Tony Stark was in.

"I'm sorry sir but Mr. Stark is out. He should be back soon if you'd like to wait."

Steve didn't recognize the receptionist from before though, "where can I find him?"

"He's at Central Park visiting Captain Americas grave sir. Do you need directions?"

"No thank you," Steve's hopeful smile faded once he started running to the park.

--- AT CENTRAL PARK ---

Steve stood across the street from the park staring at the giant statue of himself. He thought to himself How long have I been gone? as he made his way past Pepper and Happy and over to the tree line that surrounded his statue to find tony.

"Steve why did you have to leave? why?"

Steve stayed quite and approached the statue and stopped when he got to Tony's side. in the distance he could see two kids running around in the trees. steve smiled then looked back at tony and said, "I'm gone for a few months and all of this happens."

Tony's eyes widened when he heard the blond, "Steve!"

"It's me. Tony there's something I need to tell you."

Tony wrapped his arms around Steve and said, "where have you been!?"

"Carter forest. Tony," Steve put one hand under Tony's chin and raised his head, "I need to tell you something."

Tony started to talk more and more then was shut up by a kiss.

"I'm sorry."

"Steve don't be sorry. You're here now. That's all that matters."

"I love you tony," Steve leaned down and kissed tony again, "and I should of stayed here, with you and the kids. tony, i. i was so worried about being a bad father. that i'd end up like my old man, and when that mission came up..." steve looked down, "i had to find her tony."

"who?"

"her name was Margret Carter. I knew her as peggy. she's one of the people who turned me into Captain America. I went down in the plane and took a nap in the ice. As time moved on, she moved with it. Tony," the two dropped to there knees, "i'm so scared of being a screw up. I've already missed so much."

"Don't be scared," steve watched as tony turned and called the two kids over. steve started to cry when he saw Chloe and peter older.

"chloe, peter, i want you to meet your papa."

peter smiled, "hi papa," he hugged steve then stepped back for chloe.

steve tried to smile under the blanket of tears, "hello."

chloe smiled, "papa, where have you been?"

steve let out a little laugh, "Papa got into an accident and was asleep for a long time."

"are you ok now?" steve nodded his head, "you promised you'd read me a story papa."

steve smiled as chloe wrapped her tiny arms around his neck, "i'm sorry baby girl. when we get home i'll read you what ever book you want."

chloe looked at her dad, "even the biggest book?"

steve laughed, "ya. even the biggest book."

tony said, "she's been spending a lot of time with me in the lab."

Steve wrapped his arms around tony and their kids.

"Now steve, There are some people who would be really happy to see you."

Steve smiled and followed Tony to the car and greeted Pepper and Happy. The four then headed back to Tower to see the other Avengers.
