Fixing The Pieces Of His Heart

Tony got out of the SUV and followed fury. He had seen Steve since he brought him to shield. He's been working with a doctor banner at the same facility to keep his mind off things. Tony rushed from the back of the SUV when he saw Steve.
"Oh thank god."
Steve was still catching his breath from running.
"Steve?"
"Tony? is that?"
Tony smiled, "ya. It's me."
"They said you were taken prisoner. I tried to get out to..." Steve was cut off when tony started to tear up. Steve wrapped his arms around him, "I may not have kept my promise, but you kept yours."
Tony looked confused, "promise?"
"I kept running and you brought me home. You always bring me home."
The two were looking face to face, "there's something I've been wanting to ask you Steve."
Steve looked around, "perhaps a more private area"
Tony shook his head when he saw all the news vans and camera men, "let them see. I've waited long enough," tony took the ring off his finger as he got down on his knee then said, "you've been my life since high school. I can't lose you. So I ask you here, and now, in front of everyone. Will you, will you marry me?" Steve nodded his head, "yes." Tony placed the ring on Steve then stood up and kissed his fiancé. The crowd cheered as the two hugged. when tony looked at his fiancé he saw a tear fall from his eye.
"Steve?"
Steve looked up to his fiancé, "ya?"
"Whats wrong?"
"I, I just wish, my friend made it home too."
"I'm sorry Steve," the two made there way back into the SUV. once inside Steve laid his head on Tony's lap, "do you remember bucky?"
Tony nodded his head, "I'm sorry. I know you two were close in school. I know he was like a brother to you."
"Ya. He was shot out of a train. I was sent to take down a man named Schmidt, better known as the red skull. He died and I was lost in the ice."
Tony took Steve's hand and squeezed it tight.
"Tony," Steve closed his eyes, "thank you."
Tony asked, "for what?"
"Choosing me."
"Steve, it's you. It's always been you," tony leaned down and kissed Steve again, "do you remember when we first met? I mean, really met?"
Steve looked up at tony, "I remember. We drove down to the beach. Then you slept with me and was gone when I woke up. The one thing I miss from way back then is the long walks we'd take at night at the beach. I miss showers and the number one thing I miss is the kisses you'd give me that make me go weak in the knees. It's been so long and I was in the ice for 2 years and asleep for 6 years. All that time. Tony, "Steve sat up, and was about to say something but was cut off.
"Steve, everything's changed. I know that, and as much as I want to go back. well I know we can't. Steve. We're never going to be the same, but at least we can try. I'm broken, you've been lost. We can do this nice and easy. Will always be together. I promise you that."
Steve smiled.

"For blue or grey skies, for better or worse, till the very end."

Tony took Steve's hand, "till the very end."
