Chapter 6 - Talisman

Robotnik was next to his robot assistants who were delicate machines with 5 arms and with too many cameras in their eyes to analyze before interacting, so that each measurement made was to perfection, without error. They were all illuminated by the big red light surrounding the LED lights at the base. Robotnik showed a serious and controlling pose, he didn't want to show weakness to his assistants, it would cause a panic, because deep inside, he felt defeated knowing that they would find their base so quickly, and he still felt a defeat coming, when he noticed that Sonic and allies had returned. It was the last straw for Robotnik.

One of the robots kindly stopped the alarm that kept sounding, but the lights remained red, turned his head towards his boss and asked him:

-- Lord Robotnik, shall we execute Protocol 2049A1: Evacuation Program?

-- ... Prepare the escape booths. Pack up everything important from the labs, location records, we're all going...

-- Including the files from the unknown project?

-- What unknown project? Throw me whatever you got, remind me... maybe it was a long time ago...

-- His last project: a couple of hours ago, the last recorded words I heard were of infinite power --

-- Ahhh, asshole! I thought you were talking about an old project that was years ago, with no record.

-- About that, what about your project: Infinite Power? How about that name?

-- ... Infinite... well of course, I'm not going to call it Jason faggot... so, that's how it will be...

-- Are you talking about the name of the project, Lord Robotnik? -- Robotnik was lost, thinking of the wonders his new creation would bring to him. It was time to try it out. Robotnik returned to his consciousness, thinking they were talking about putting "Infinite" into the jackal, but he went on to accept that this would be the name of the project.

-- Ah, what? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, sure. Listen. I need you to bring me Infinite Power project right here. The entire strike team is pulling out and leaving with me. Leave the traps off and shut everything down.

-- Lord Robotnik, what about their friend, Charmy?

-- Take him away of the base and keep him alive with us. 

He'll be my talisman. 

Robotnik turned around and observed that his last creation, was there, standing in the middle of the corridor of the emergency exit, the robots withdrew carrying huge packages of important steel as he approached his owner. The jackal, approaches to appreciate his new baptism, shows up in front of Robotnik for his first mission.

-- Living beings are given a name to identify them. I noticed you gave me my new name. -- He said, Inifnite.

-- Just infinite. Don't let your ego get so high, boy.

-- Are we leaving?

-- No. -- said robotnik, as he patted Infinite on the shoulder. -- You're staying. You have a new mission for me, take it as a favor. We'll make a slight move, but we're against the clock and some intruders are on our tail. I need you to take care of the intruders... I don't care what you do to them, but you've got a category S in there. I don't care if you knock them out, throw them off the base, or kill them, just take care of...

-- why would I kill them?

-- Because they're ruining our path to the future, Inifinite. They'll ruin your future. People like Charmy who only scream and fill your head with lies will have you fall into their hands, and when they do that, they will betray you and leave you stranded in the woods waiting for you to do something else. Causing the death of one of them can cause a chain reaction. Alone they're dangerous but together, they'd be uncontrollable, boy. If you kill one of them on the run, they might kill us all. Including you. I don't want the same thing to happen to you as to the rest of them. -- Said Robotnik, as he shut down the base and retreated to the escape pods, -- The three of them are separated. Defeat them one by one. They're in the elevator at the entrance. You better get out of this alive. – Said Robotnik, as the door suddenly got closed when he stopped to talk.
