Sonic: The Last Resistance

Chapter 3 - Zero Priority

Miles was flying too fast like he was being chased by someone. He didn't want to see anyone. He was clearly enraged by feeling less, he was sick of it. First they call him by his nickname, now they just seek help from the hedgehog without caring about Miles' technical intelligence. Miles didn't care if Sonic had beaten the Cyborg, he felt everything went well, as usual. So why worry about it? It seems Miles was completely forgetting what he came to until he finally came to his senses.

.... his ship
.... The soldier!

Miles headed to the base where they directed Eggman into space. It was not so far from here, as it was between Retro City and Green Hills. As he flew over the base, he received calls warning of the overflight ban.
-- Unidentified object. We request permission for you to leave the area immediately. This is a missile test area.
-- This is Miles Power, you idiots, let me in.
-- Tails? I'm President Carl. Glad to see you. Is Sonic coming with you?
-- This time I'm coming alone.
 -- Uh? Everything in order?
-- It's just that I was passing through and got a call from the base.
-- That's strange. It's all right. I'll leave the doors open. Please land on the roof. I'm in the north watchtower. The biggest one.
-- Copy that.

It was easy for Miles to get in anywhere and he got in through an open window in the tower. By carefully crawling in, a surveillance soldier got Miles' attention.
-- Hey kid, kid! Close that window immediately!
Miles got nervous when he received such a strong order that he better back off and let the soldier close the window himself. He searched around and gave warnings to the rest of the tower members.
-- Who the fuck left the window open?! We're on red alert and you don't understand! -- He turned to Miles, spoke to him from his shoulder quickly and left -- What's up Tails, come in the door later.
-- ... I'm not Tails. -- He said it himself in a low voice.

Miles saw many people and terrified secretaries running around. Miles wondered what all the fuss was about. There was clearly no one who was in a position to speak clearly to Miles. Miles asked a man who worked in the satellite location area trying to get his attention by pulling on his shirt.
-- This is North Tower. I need a report on Robotnik's latest location records. ... What do you mean there's no sign?
-- Hey, what is going on with Eggman?
-- Ugh? -- His call was interrupted and he watched Miles get a little worried. -- Tails uh... Hi, how are you?
-- Don't change the topic, you can tell me what's going on.
-- Uh... you want me to tell you what's going on? -- He goes back to his digital panel, looking at his recent location records, all of which claim to have not found Robotnik anywhere. -- Robotnik got away from us... And it was all our fault... ... God... -- The man spoke for himself... Only Carl would come up with this nonsense...
-- Where's Carl?
The man looked into Carl's office and went back to work. Miles walked up and opened the door, not caring about the care behind the red alert. The president was behind a simple desk scratching his hair over the headache he's having right now. It was as if every minute that Robotnik was outside was becoming more and more dangerous for everyone who was exposed. A total nightmare.

-- Carl? What's all this? Where's Eggman?
-- Tails? I need to talk to Sonic, please.
-- I'm the only one who could come, Mr. Carl.
-- Jesus Christ, where is he? This never happens, he's never busy.
-- The robot... -- Miles was thinking out loud.
-- Uh?
-- Someone was chasing us and attacked us both. Some kind of robot soldier came and tried to kill Sonic.
-- What do you mean, a robot soldier?
-- That's actually why I came here. That soldier is a lot like the military equipment you guys have, only Eggman modified it more on the inside than the outside.
-- This can't be... that bastard...
-- Mr. Carl, you told me that Eggman killed a few men, right? He killed all of them?
-- Miles... We found only the bodies of the engineers. The soldiers in charge of Eggman's personal surveillance are missing and have not responded to their communicators... Where is that robot soldier who attacked you? -- Miles was impressed. He thought the same as the president.
-- I... Well... I left Sonic fighting him with the Chaos emeralds.
-- Tails, don't let Sonic kill him. He can be very helpful! Quick! Talk to him and tell him to bring it back to base before he escapes or something! I'll be a little busy. I'm expecting some good news.
