Robotnik remained in his seat as he heard the warning that a jackal had been found outside the base. Robotnik was a little doubtful about the animal they chose. So he got up and went to the panel where there was a microphone to communicate with the fast search robot.

-- Repeat the information I just heard. Did you find a jackal?

-- Yes, Lord Robotnik!

-- And what do you want me to do with it? I understand that I asked for any animal, but I didn't ask for any living garbage.

-- But, it was requested for a quick search, and the first thing we spotted was a jackal.

-- ... at least it wasn't a rabbit... -- Thought robotnik, he believes that small animals are too weak to withstand experiments. He doesn't have much knowledge about jackals so he had to improvise. When he gave his research he never cared what animal was being experimented on. All his experiments worked.

-- Bring him in.

After he gave the order, two robots brought in a frightened wild jackal while it was being held by its four legs. Robotnik watched him from his seat and spoke in front of him. He had had enough of his experiments failing, and not only that, they ended up joining forces with the Sonic team.

-- Look at you... I'm about to do something completely stupid, and I have a feeling you'll end up switching roles, deciding to help the rats. Destroying my ships, my armies. A lot of rookies from the base tried to kill me... I wasn't very nice to them... And I'm under the biggest decision of my life, and I'm taking advantage of it while you, jackal, are struggling and squirming to escape while you don't know what the hell is going on.

-- Lord Robotnik, the process for cover-up is ready. It requires an organism for energy transfusion, we cannot let the Star die after so long of being immobilized. -- Said one of the robots.

Robotnik stopped. He stopped his thoughts, his ideas, everything stopped when he found out that the star did not have much time left. We were wasting our time with a stupid jackal. Robotnik wasn't sure if it would work or not.

-- Begin with the process. Disinfect it. He better be healthy. Unless he's got some kind of brain problem.

Robotnik's robots led the Jackal completely into the incubator. First they sedated him with a special animal medical gun, so he wouldn't make any sudden movements during the operation. He had to have direct injections into his veins and a direct tube that went from his mouth into his stomach to disinfect everything he had with parasites. His four arms had to be surgically amputated, a process that would result in a replacement of his limbs. Robotnik approached to the Big Red to start drilling her. Some severe wine-colored cubes came out of the rock. Some very fine cubes, as if they had been carved by hand in detail, these shone constantly as if they were the light of a siren. They were small cubes floating on the rock but Robotnik didn't notice them. Each time the cubes appeared more and more, as if the rock was releasing a power that was not known. Robotnik finds a huge red crystal sealed between the rocks of the star and he removes it with his gloves while drilling around. He placed the crystal in a mini capsule to control the power inside. This mini capsule drained the energy directly into tubes that reached the jackal's veins.

The star's energy began to detect the microbes. It detected the jackal's organism and began to fuse its energy into his body. This made the energy analyze the whole anatomy of the animal, realizing that it was missing multiple extremities and had a very big deficiency in the nervous system. The jackal started to process a new blood flow, a new bone system, the incubator helped the energy of the star to regenerate the extremities of the jackal. It no longer had paws but hands and feet of its own. Robotnik was not surprised that the jackal's head was highly altered by the process, since the same thing happened to his latest research.
