My Healer Academia (Bakugo x OC x Todoroki)

Start Line Pt 1

A/N: This scene will sway from the canon My Hero story line regarding Todoroki's introduction. However, that will be explained in a much later chapter (perhaps even the second story arc *cough* foreshadowing *cough*) so please keep an eye out for that!

Todoroki

               The morning of February 26th, Ai, Bakugo and Midoriya came to UA separately. Ai arrived the latest out of the three, frantically rushing through the gate until her feet came to a stop. Midoriya? Her best friend was about to topple over his own two feet, and as she stepped forward, arm outstretched, she was stopped in her tracks. Ai witnessed as his body floated before it could hit the ground. She watched as the girl who had saved him from bad luck on the first day also gave him words of encouragement. Wow... Ai thought. She's cute. Midoriya was a flustered mess, but it made him that much more excited to go in. Was I only his friend for convenience sake before high school? Her hand dropped to her side, and she went back to clutching her backpack straps until her fingers turned white. Once he gets accepted... Is this friendship over?

               "Excuse me."

               Ai turned around to be met by a beautiful pair of contrasting eyes. There was also a disparity within his hair since its colors were split red-white evenly down the middle. A burn scar overtook much of the left side of his face, but it did nothing to take away from his handsome features. His presence was uncanny. "S-Sorry..." Realizing that she had been glued to her spot, Ai quickly sidestepped. "I didn't mean to be in the w-"

               "Are you okay?" The male stranger also stepped to the side, only so that he could formally face Ai again. Was this something out of a romantic novel? The heroine's encounter with the mysterious male lead. It brought butterflies to her stomach, and she wanted to shake her head for thinking dumb notions.

               "Oh, um – well..."

               "Because if you're having second thoughts," he started. His curious and somewhat concerned demeanor changed. All was left was a phrase that made Ai's heart stop short. "Then you should just give up now."

               Tensing underneath his powerful stare, she wanted to look away, but it was too alluring for her to avoid. "W-What?"

               The cold boy began walking again, bumping their shoulders as he passed her. "Becoming a hero isn't a joke. If you're already so scared that you can't even walk, then you should just go home." What was left of their conversation was a shadow of discouragement that was cast over Ai's face as she bit down harshly on her bottom lip. Her hands remained clenched, and her blood burned with a pain that she had felt for as long as she could dream.

               "You're wrong," she muttered, but she was left to stare at the ground. "I will become a hero."

               The auditorium was packed with children and high hopes. Ai managed to find a seat between Midoriya and Bakugo, snickering at how much her best friend was fangirling. As Present Mic spat information left and right, the three of them looked down at their exam tickets, all of which listed different battle centers to go to. Bakugo's was A, Midoriya's B and Ai's C.
