The acceptance rate for UA High's hero course is less than one in three hundred every year. Other than the four people admitted through recommendations, thirty six are admitted through the regular exam. Those thirty six are split into two classes, with eighteen in each. However, this year, one child broke the streak and became the exception and twenty first student of class 1-A. Her special placement was unknown to her as she sprinted down the hallways of the gigantic building alongside her childhood friend.

One month prior, Recovery Girl stood in the office of Mr. Principal, otherwise known as Nezu. The animal sat at his desk, holding an application in his hands with a big grin as he admired the resemblance of the picture to the woman in front of him. "It appears here that this student, Ai Kyuseishu, applied under a fake last name. The judgement panel, myself included, found this out after the fact that we had already chosen her to be a part of our hero program."

Chiyo couldn't help but sigh at this predicament. "Such a bright girl, yet she goes and does things like this," the aunt grumbled. "Well, what can you do about today's youth?"

"We were unsure of what to do about this, so I decided to ask for your opinion," Nezu explained. "Because you are the girl's guardian, after all."

A bitter smile aligned Chiyo's face as she tried to remember the last time she even interacted with Ai. "I suppose you want me to advocate on my niece's behalf," she started, "but I cannot do that." Nezu listened quietly, the pleasant smile never leaving his understanding face. "The actions she demonstrated earlier today was indeed those of a true hero, but I have never seen her display such an abundance of power like that before. And by the looks of it, it was her first time using it as well. With a passion for growth as big as hers and the ability to adjust her quirk this late in life, it seems that her reckless mindset may pose more of a difficulty than a reliable asset to you, wouldn't it?"

"You make a very good point," Nezu agreed as he reskimmed the pages in front of him. "Her selflessness doesn't disregard the fact that she acted impulsively for her own personal objective." He straightened out the papers before placing them back down on the desk, crossing one wrist over the other as he leaned forward against his elbows. "However, that makes UA High the perfect school for her!"

Chiyo gazed up, lips parted in disbelief. "And what about another bright student's chances of getting admitted into this school, the right way?" Mr. Principal couldn't help but giggle. Many years in her field had turned Recovery Girl into an equal opportunity skeptic, which was the kind of unbiased mindset that Nezu needed for this decision.

"We fully intend to accept the same number of arbitrary students as every year," he informed, "with Ai being the only additional exception to this rule. Forty one students! None of whom will have their opportunities taken away by unfortunate circumstances."

"Mr. Principal," Chiyo warned, "although it has been a while since I've last spoken to my niece, I still know where her heart lies. Once you fix her name on the application and she realizes the disparity in numbers this year, she may not accept this invitation due to not wanting her lineage to play a role in it."
