Time Jump One

Felix watched from the bathroom door, jumper wrapped around her and falling to her mid-thighs, as Hayes mumbled on about the current case they were working. He had shed his work jacket on the desk chair and was still in his dress shirt.

"Felix I know you not a fan on going by gut feelings, but I've got this feeling that the sister is the one we should look at—and you're not listening are you?" Hayes leant back on his hands, top buttons undone and hair askew.

Coughing slightly, Felix rocked on her toes, looking around the room before leaving her weight against the door frame. "Sorry Hayes, but not really no."

Hayes' curious eye's caught hers, "you don't normally shrug off talking about a case, what's up love?"

Pushing off of the door frame, Felix walked a few steps and stood in front of Hayes. Her feet making soft noises as she strolled across the hardwood. Hayes moved forward and rested his hands on her waist softly, running his thumbs in small circles. Felix ran her hands through his messy hair, detangling small knots and scratching his scalp.

"If I tell you something Hayes, you can't get mad I didn't tell you right away." Her voice was light, playful even.

Hayes was intrigued, tightening his hands on her hips, Hayes places his face on Felix's stomach and flicked his eyes up to meet hers. "I swear on my Mother's cooking I won't get mad."

Felix laughed a belly laugh and stopped moving her hands, which was met with nuzzling of protest. "Alright, you overgrown puppy I think we need to move."

"Move?" Hayes' sounded as confused as he looked

"This apartment won't be big enough for us in a few months Hayes, so I was thinking it was time to relocate."

Hayes went still, pulling his face away from Felix to stare at her stomach than at her face. "You're being serious? I'm not misreading this?" His voice wavered slightly, tears welling in his eyes.

Grabbing his left hand, Felix twisted the metal band around his finger, "I promised you not to lie, so I wouldn't about this."

Hayes fell back into the bed and stared at the ceiling for a moment before letting out a choked noise that sounded like a mix of laugh and sob. Sitting up again, but on his knees, Hayes gently held Felix's face. "A baby? Like one of our own?" He sounded like a child getting a surprise.

When Felix nodded, she wasn't too surprised to see Hayes roll backwards again, however, was shocked to see him fall right off the bed. He sprinted off the floor and gently tackling her into a hug. Hayes' laughter filled the apartment, Felix crying silent tears.

"Who gets to tell your Mother she's getting another grandkid?" Felix questioned after a moment, watching Hayes' eyes grow wide.

"Fuck me she's going to go crazy." He wiped a hand over his face

"I already did Hayes, that's how we got here." Felix chirped out, kissing Hayes on the cheek.
