Time Jump Two
Hayes twisted the ring between his fingers, elbows rested on his desk as he stared at it. A band of twisted silver meeting in the middle to wrap around a small diamond. Felix was talking with the Lieutenant about one of their cases, so he had some time to himself to contemplate.
This little band has the possibility to change a few things in what had become a routine in his life. Hayes had broken the lease on his apartment and moved into Felix's just upstairs. Just as quickly as that, it seemed once again normal.
Hearing the handle twist, Hayes tucked the ring into his pocket, tapping it twice with his fingers. He flicked his eyes up to where Felix leant against the table, staring at the whiteboard trying to find a link, one he didn't think was there. However, if there was one, Felix would find it. Adjusting the suspender type holster, Hayes stood and placed himself next to his partner.
"What did Lieutenant say?"
Felix sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose, "he said while we've got merit in our assumptions for our suspect, there just that, nice neat assumptions."
Sighing, Hayes twisted back to grab the file, "nothing we can ger a warrant for then?"
"Unless Lieutenant is pulling it out of his ass, I don't think so Hayes."

"Why can't all criminals be dumb enough to leave a photo and signature for us at the crime scene?" Felix grumbled, laying her back on the table, legs dangling off the side.
Hayes laughed at the sight of his partner, kicking the door shut of their office to the now deserted office and set down one of the two steaming coffees on Felix's desk. "If they did that Felix, we wouldn't have a job."
Felix groaned in response, keeping her eyes trained on the blank roof. She flicked her eyes to her partner when he tapped her knees, his hair fell in front of his eye, holster still on, wrapping around his back and over his shoulders, but his gun wasn't holstered.
"Can't drink a coffee laying down Felix," Hayes spoke as he held out the second coffee to his partner.
"Can't solve a crime when taking a break to drink on either Hayes." Felix sighed, sipping the drink before turning back to the board.
Hayes titled his head, hand subconsciously slipping into his pocket, twisting the ring between his fingers. Felix was stressed, but he couldn't help but feel maybe now was a good time. Slipping the ring around the tip of his pinkie finger, before coughing to grab her attention again.
Felix smiled at Hayes softly, not noticing the ring and placed her head on his chest, still seated on the table giving her some height. Hayes ran his free hand through her hair for a moment, "Felix, on a scale of one to five, how likely is it I'll end up sleeping on the couch when I say how much I spent."
"Depends, what did you spend money on?"
Instead of answering, Hayes placed the small ring in his partner's hand, "Who gets to tell my mum?"
Felix felt her eyes well with tears, the headache she had clearing for a moment. She didn't give him an answer, just crushed Hayes in a bone-crushing hug. She whispered, "You're the Mumma's boy."
