Chapter 2

"Her case is worsened. We wouldn't be responsible for her death. Please your attention is needed here now".

The doctors words hit me.

I dropped the phone and got up. I rushed down the stairs and went down. I got my car and entered.

"I'll drive you sir." My driver, James volunteered.

"I'll drive myself." I snapped and James bowed.

I drove out immediately. I drove down to the hospital.

I got there and bounced outta my car and met the doctor coincidentally.

"Hey. I'm here." I rushed.

"That was quick. Follow me." The doctor said and I followed him to the ward my granny was admitted.

I met my granny on the bed struggling with different pipes connected to her body.

I rushed in and sat by her.

'Granny?" I called out but no response.

She's been sick for like three weeks now, going to a month.

She's been the one holding me back from doing stuffs so far. She's my only family.

She coughed.

"Water." I ordered and one of the nurses got me one.

I gave her water but she threw it up immediately.

"Son?" She coughed and I shot my head up.

She searched for my hand and she held it passionately.

"Please. I want you to promise me something." She choked on her words.

"I'll do anything." I said desperately.

"Promise me you'd take care of your wife." She said in her old and shaky, sick voice.

"But I don't have"......"just promise me." She cut me short.

"I promise I'll take care of her." I said with puffy red eyes.

"Thank you. I love you and I'll always be here for..." She started coughing uncontrollably and started to gasp for air like her breath was seized.

Her chest moved up and down with her eyes opened.

"Doctor!" I yelled and the doctor came running in.

He called the attention of other nurses after seeing her condition. They rushed in.

"I'm sorry you'd have to leave. We'd call you when we need you." The doctor said and I left the ward.

I paced around expecting the doctor. I couldn't afford to loose my only family.

Just then, the doctor came out. I rushed to him.

"I'm sorry sir but we couldn't save your granny". We tried all that we could sir. He said.

His words echoed in my ears.

I staggered backwards and I pushed the doctor and made my way to the ward.

I met granny lying lifeless.

She was dead.

The reality just hit me.

"No. This can't be happening doctor." I said getting up. I held the doctor's collar.

"What have you done to my granny? She's not meant to die now! Why did you do this?!" I yelled.

Other nurses came to stop me but I pushed them all away from me.

"He killed my granny!" I yelled and pushed the doctor away. I left the ward immediately and went out.

"You haven't paid sir." A nurse said, trembling.

I wanted to laugh but I had to hold it.

"Screw you! What should I pay for? Her health or death? I'm meant to sue you cos your messed up. Your doctor lied he could diagnose her problem." I paused.

'She's been here for almost a month and you kept giving me unrealistic hopes." I continued.

"Then he called to tell me he wouldn't be responsible for her death, what the hell is that?! All you could do is insert contaminated pipes in her! Never ask me for what you don't deserve or I'll give you what you deserve!" I threatened and stormed out of there.

I bumped into someone and stopped immediately.

"Hey! Do you mind? With those eyes you have, you still can't see well."I snapped and turned sharply and my gaze met with a young lady.

"You hit me. I didn't." She said lowly.

I'm not blind and I still have the sense of feeling! I know I hit you but you should've watched where you were going!" I snapped and she moved closer.

She looked at me dead in the eye.

"You're the blind and rude one! You hit me and you're telling me you know and still blaming me. I mean who does that?! You better watch the way you talk cos I'm not one of those who'd worship you all day." She said sternly.

"You're one to teach me how to respect, aren't you?" I said sarcastically rolling my eyes.

"Unfortunately I am cos I don't have some everlasting ego that makes you act like an animal wherever you go." She hissed.

"How dare you?!....

"You dared to hit me first and accused me. You don't get to ask me that." She cut me off.

"Don't make me hit you cos you'll be in a comma for the rest of your life." I said.

"Which real man hits a female?" She questioned.

"Perhaps you have never heard that I'm like no other man." I gritted.

I already said that sir. I said you act like an animal so its not surprising. By the way, if you try to hit me, your burial would be held very soon." She said with piercing eyes.

"You'll wish you never met me Ms." I said and she smirked.

"I already wish you never did." She smiled and walked away.

I watched her enter the hospital. She's so insane and out of her mind. I don't have time to waste on her. She's just an asshole.

I pushed off the feeling off of me and drove home.

Granny was still in my head. Had to take that girl off my head.

I entered my car and I drove off in high speed. I got home real quick. The gate was opened almost immediately and he bowed.

I stopped the car and went inside. I threw stuffs and hollered some through the window angrily. This was the worst timing.

"Are you okay sir?" Sophia, one of my cooks asked.

"Get the hell outta here." I yelled.

"I'm sorry sir." She said and left.

I punched the wall and slammed my head on the wall continuously till I felt dizzy and light headed.

I fell heavily on the floor and searched for my phone. I got it and dialed my uncle's number.

My uncle picked it quickly.

"Granny's dead. Tell the others." I said quickly.

"What?!" My uncle sounded shocked.

"You're not deaf". I shot and ended the call.

I dropped the phone and slept off on the floor with broken glass scattered all over.
