It was a sunny day. I took a day off from work to rest. It was time to start all over.

I have to get that mute old man to the hospital. He has to talk. I easily get infuriated. The way he has to get pen and book all the time before he can ask me how are you? infuriates me a lot like really.

I was dressed in a red shirt and blue faded jeans. I went downstairs to meet him.

He was in the garden. I went to him and sat by him. Hey. I said.

He brought out pen and book but I stopped him. I know you want to ask how I am. I am fine. I said plainly and he nodded smiling.

I came here to tell you something. I want to take you to the hospital. I said and he raised an eyebrow.

Yes, for your inability to talk. I said and he smiled. ......and I mean now. I added and he gave a confused look.
Yea..I know you're confused or surprised. I want to take you now cos I have time now and I hardly have time. I said and he shrugged.

I nodded and pulled him up. Take me to the hospital. I said to James.
Hospital? Who's not okay? He asked. Just need to take him there. I said and he nodded.

I entered the car with the man and James drove off.

He got to the hospital and I got out of the car with the man. I entered the hospital and headed to the doctor's office. I knocked.

Come in. He said. I entered and he smiled at me.

Mr. Hurtado, good morning sir. You didn't tell me you were coming here. He said.

Its no big issue. I just brought him here. I said. Please have a sit. He said and I took a sit likewise the man. I still don't know his name. So what's the issue? He asked.

He's mute and he once talked. I really don't know why. You can have a word with him but I just need you to check out what's up and tell me if there's need for anything. I'll pay. I told him and he nodded.

So, he suddenly got mute? He asked.
I really don't know. I just met him anyways. Its not like I know him like really. You can talk to him. I'll excuse you two. Just so you know, he'd write to reply you. He's gat a book and pen he'd use to reply you. I said to him.

Alright. You can excuse us now. He said and I nodded. I'll be outside. I told them and stood up, leaving his office immediately.

I went out and started pacing around since there was nothing else to do. Just then, I got a call. It was my aunt. I picked it.

Hello Abe. She said. Hello. I said. How're you? She asked. I'm fine. I replied bored.

Where are you now? She asked me. I'm at the hospital. I replied. Is there any problem? She asked.

No. It's not your business. I shot and heard her sigh. Okay. If it has to do with you, take care. She said.

So why did you call? I asked her rudely. I just wanted to check up on you and family.

I heard what happened to Maddox. You didn't have to put laws into your hands Abe. She said.

Look woman. I just decided to ease the cops work and that's all I did. I didn't put laws into my hands. It was his punishment. He committed murder countless times and arson. He doesn't deserve bail. If you guys want to blame me this time, you can. This time, I won't care. I said sharply.

No. That's not it. Never mind anyways. How's Lexi? She sighed and I was startled for a moment.
I don't know. You can ask her yourself. You have her number, don't you? I snapped.

I'm sorry. I hope you guys have no issues again. Take care. She said weakly and hung up.

I don't know how Lexi is doing and I don't care. I just hope uncle and his wife doesn't come over to my house check on us.

How'd I tell the story? She should be the one to tell them. I won't bother. I should call her to tell her.

I dialed her number reluctantly and she picked it immediately.

Abe? She called out from the phone and I paused. I breathed in and out to ease the tension.

Abe, I'm really... She was saying but I cut her off.

Look. I just called to tell you I don't want any more issues in my family. It'd be better if you tell your family and mine about the whole thing and we're not together any longer. I don't like to tell stories. Tell them before they ask or it won't be funny. I said harshly. ....and I'm sorry for killing your Maddox. You can stop crying now and move on. I added dryly and sighed.

I heard her sob on the phone and I disconnected the call.

She wouldn't stop crying for Maddox. Then, she should die with him. I'll gladly bury her next to him.

Just then, the doctor came out. Mr. Hurtado? He called out. Sir? I replied.
Uhm....according to what he said, series of tests has been taken and he's just had another one. He'd have to go through an operation. He revealed.
Operation? Is it that bad? I asked.

That's the only way. Brain surgery would help him talk again. But this one is on a 40% chance. He said.
So if its on a 40% probability, why should he do it? It might not work. I said shrugging.

You should just try. It might end well. Just give it a try. He advised. Alright. When? I asked.

Erm....come back in three days time. I'll get everything ready. I'll also be here. He said.

Okay so we can leave now right? I asked. Yeah...I think. You can leave with him now. I'm sure you have no worries with the payment. He smiled.
No worries. I nodded in approval and he turned to leave. Okay. Its time to leave. I said to the man and he nodded.

He stood up and we walked out. Sir, are you ready to leave now? James asked.

If I'm not, I won't be by the car now. I rolled my eyes and entered the car.
The man also entered and James drove off.
