Chapter 20

The rustling of the leaves and the brightness of the sun woke me up. I got up.

It was afternoon already. I must've slept off while planning my next meeting. I got up and changed into my towel. I entered the bathroom and turned on the shower.

After having a warm and quick bath, I went  out and dressed up. I dried my hair and styled it in my usual style; side swept undercut.

I wore a navy blue v-neck top and navy blue jeans with white snickers. After dressing up, I got out. I needed to go meet Darby for business plans.

I needed to hire a new secretary since the last one was a fraudster. I already made a date for the interview. I got out and entered my car.

I wanted to branch at my uncle's place cos he told me to come see him. I then got a call and I ignored it. My phone rang over and over again and I just had to pick it.

Sir sir. It sounded like one of my men. What? I asked. You need to come here right now! He sounded so urgent. Blah blah. I'll be there. I said.

Sir you have to be here. Its Darby. He revealed. What?! Darby?! I'm coming. I said and hung up. I turned right and drove off. I dialed my uncle's number and he picked immediately.

I'll come later. I said sharply. What do you mean? He asked. Get a dictionary to check meaning of what I said. I spat and hung up. I drove as fast as I could and I got to my personal apartment in a few minutes.

I got there and found no one. I walked to the back where I met the others. They were gathered at a place. I walked over to them and they paved way for me as I walked until I saw Darby lying on the floor, lifeless and floating in his own blood.

I staggered backwards and fell on the floor right next to him. Darby! I called out. Please answer me. What could have happened?

Who could've done this? Why? Why now? Gosh! Water was about to fall out from my eyes but I cleaned it. I stood up and turned to them.

What happened?! I demanded but everyone kept mute. Who did this?! I yelled. Who?! I yelled and brought out my gun.

Sir, he was probably fighting with someone. One of them said. Shut it! Shut it! He never fights! He hates seeing people fight! He doesn't fight! He's a peace maker! Who did this?! I snarled and they shook in fear.

Sir, we don't know. We just met him here and then we called you. Another said with his voice shaking. No no no! Why?! I yelled as water dropped from my eyes.

Someone did this! Who?! I'll kill you all if you don't tell me! I threatened. Sir, we have no idea, no one entered here. We were all at our place when Darby came.

He entered and we bowed as usual. He asked of you and we told him you weren't here. He then left until he shouted. Then, we came here but he shouted like two hours after he came in. One of them said and I left there.

I went upstairs and Axel, one of my men followed me. Darby is not meant to die now. He's meant to die after me. He's never been a traitor. I've always been.

I'm your family and I have all the right to interfere in your daily life okay? So now, I want you to take Diego's position from now on till granny returns. My uncle said.

Diego is one of the maids. He washes all the cars everyday and wets the flowers everyday. I'm not doing it. I said firmly.

You'll do it or you'd have to leave this house till granny returns. I'm your uncle okay? He yelled.

I'm sorry but I don't think you are. You're not even a family. You claim to be his father's brother but his father is no more. So, you are no longer his uncle. Its up to him whether he wants you to remain his uncle or not.

By the way, he's not doing the shit you told him to. He would leave here for you till granny returns. He's going to leave here. He'd be around my place in case you want to ask for forgiveness. Darby said and everyone turned to him.

I didn't even know when he came here. Hey. Look. Keep your friendship away when you step into this house okay? My uncle's wife said.

At least I'm not some demonic stranger. I'm more than a friend while you are the stranger. You are the one that has no right to talk shit to him or give him some nasty work to do.

Make use of your youth age by doing the work you gave him. I'll tell granny he's with me. He said and pulled me away. I didn't get clothes. I whispered as we got out of the house.

Its okay. You can wear mine. Besides, you gat few of your clothes in my house. He said and we entered the car and the driver drove off.

Thanks. I really hate that family, you know? I muttered. Anytime. He sighed. I'll always be there. He smiled.

What if you die? I asked suddenly. I'm going to die after you. I'll always be there. He said patting me and I dozed off in the car

Darby can't die. They must've done something to him. He's too strong for one person to handle. Have you found anything yet? I asked Axel.

Not really. He replied. Lets take him to the hospital. I said. But he's dead. He said.

I know what I'm saying. I insisted and he nodded.
