Chapter 36

Its been three days since Lexi left. I don't know how I'll tell my family that she's gone.

There's no way I'll tell them she fell in love with Maddox. I'd have to cover her up. Besides, no matter what I say, they won't believe me. They'd say it's my fault. I don't care about that.

They'll be disappointed in me. None of it is my fault by the way. I was in my room just thinking of how I'll start my life again without having suffer anything again.

Just then, my door flung open and Ryder entered fuming. Oh. Lord. I was in shorts when he entered.

I don't even know how he managed to enter. I got up and he held my shirt fiercely in pure anger.

What did you do to my sister?! Why did she leave here?! He yelled. What did she say? I asked calm.

I haven't asked her yet. She's been crying and she doesn't want to take anything. And she promised not to return here. What have you done?! Answer me! He yelled.

Just let go! I yanked his hands off my shirt angrily. I did nothing to your sister!

I told her from the start I don't want to get married to her but she went ahead to tell her parents I agreed to the marriage.

I know I might have been so mean to her when we first got married but I softened up as time went on. I apologized to her. I even started to develop some sorta feelings for her and she fell for that bastard, Maddox.

I never reacted. She always spent time with him and all. Firstly, her business account got hacked and it was Chanel who did it with the help of Maddox. She sent Lexi out.

I told her it was Maddox and all she said was; what if?! Its none of your business! So stay out!

She technically told me not to interfere in her business! She never believed me. I left her. He also killed Darby and then, he beat me up and threw me out of my own house blaming me for Darby's death.

I didn't fight back cos I thought I deserved it simply because I haven't found out that he was the one then. Lexi didn't complain then. I found out and told him.

He told me he did it and he doesn't care. He said he'll also get rid of Lexi cos he knew she was also among my top priorities.

He then tried to burn down the hotel we were having meeting and we got injured badly. He also got injured deliberately. I knew he had something to do with it.

I got close to the inspector and we investigated until we found proof against him. He killed Chanel and confessed his crime in the video and it was from the camera footage; the one he forgot to take down.

I had to beg the inspector that I should handle him myself cos I promised to kill him with my hands. I killed him and sent his dead body to the inspector.

And that's why your sister has been crying and refused to come back. That's why she wants to divorce me. That's it! I did nothing!

She trusted him and fell for him. I can't possibly go after her. I've been trying to explain stuffs to her but it falls on deaf ears.

She's even the one who makes me cry. It's always because of her.

I'm always busy trying to make sure she's safe and Maddox doesn't do anything to her but she's too blind to realize all I've done for her and now, she left me for some guy; the guy who always wanted her to die.

The guy who's always used her to get rid of me and she doesn't know it. That's it! I did nothing to your beloved sister! I growled in anger, tears already forming in my eyes.
I sat down and I sniffled. He had a blank expression on his face.

Look. I'm sorry. I don't know why she did this but she's just been immature. But.... Never mind. I'll go talk to her.
She was mistaken. I'm sorry. You haven't divorced formally right? He stuttered. I don't know. She said she'll get the files later for me to sign. I said.
I'll talk to her. He said rubbing his temple.

Don't. Don't bother. I'm not getting back to her. She can continue her life. The only person that stood in my life all through is Darby. I knew she was going to leave anyways but not this soon.

I just need to apologize her for everything I might have done to her to hurt her. I know I must've hurt her at times when I wasn't in the right state of mind.

Help me tell her I'm sorry. That's all. I don't want her back or I would keep hurting myself.

I'm tired of everything. All of the hurting stuff and she doesn't even try to understand me. She just judges me according to what happens.

If she realizes her mistake later, she shouldn't bother apologizing. I've forgiven her. Its not fully her fault by the way.

If I knew this was going to happen all along, I wouldn't have killed Maddox.
I would've made her realize everything or I would've let the cops take care of him themselves. I'm really sorry. I know I've hurt you too.

I'm sorry. I made your sister cry all in my name. You can kill me if you want if that's what would make her happy again or get her married to someone who'll make her happy again.

I doubt I have the ability to put a smile on her face. I said and cleaned the tears off my face.

I turned to leave and he held me back. Come on in. He smiled and hugged me. I couldn't help the tears.

I understand what you're saying. You've been strong for too long. I know that. Its like she just brought you down.

I know deep inside you, you want her back but you're talking like this cos you're weak and afraid of hurting yourself again. I'm sorry. He said.

Now, stop crying and man up. Remember that's what Darby tells you at school. He smiled and I smiled with watery eyes. I missed Darby like hell!

What if she comes back to you? He asked suddenly. I don't know. I shrugged.

You'll know when she comes. He smiled. Don't talk to her Ryder. I warned.

Wow. So you're the one warning me now. He laughed. Trust me, I won't tell her to come back. She'll come herself. He smirked leaving my room.

What if I reject? I asked and he turned. He paused for a moment and looked at me with his dark mean eyes.

Then, you're messing with yourself not me. You'll hurt yourself more. You can't stay like this forever. He smiled and left.

I just sat back on my bed and thought of everything that has happened since she came.
