Doomsuba: Hell's Wrath

Chapter 5: Appeared Upon the Horizon

An hour passes... Time: 4:00 p.m

Slayer, Aqua, and Megumin accept a quest to kill four giant toads that are around the city walls and they have two days to complete it. This is a relatively simple quest for them, but this is more of a test to see how much power this young mage packs. They walked towards the outskirts of Masato Kouda and began their search for the toads.

Once they arrive, they immediately see two of them that are close together. A blue and a green one that stand at about 10 ft tall. A red glimmer appears in Megumin's eye as she knows it's the perfect time to show Slayer and Aqua her power.

"Now behold you two," she begins to speak loudly. "The power of a true Crimson Demon arch-wizard can hold!"

She advances forth as the three of them watch in the distance.

"Her odds of success are at 86.78%," Vega chimed.

"We don't need an analytic specialist in here Vega," Aqua retorted. "Just sit back and watch her do whatever she does."

Slayer kept on thinking to himself that this mage better be something special or else this would just be added extra weight.

Megumin now stands around 50ft away from the two toads, raises her staff, and begins her chant, "Darkness blacker than black and darker than dark..." At this moment, multiple blue lines, which appear to be mana, flow to her staff. "I beseech thee, combine with my deep crimson. The time of awakening cometh. Justice, fallen upon the infallible boundary, appear now as an intangible distortion! This is the mightiest means of attack known to man, the ultimate attack magic! Explosion!"

A targeted explosion hit the two toads and just like that, they were blown to smithereens as the others watched in the distance. The whiplash knocked Aqua on her back and the Slayer watched with a smile on his face thinking he had hit the jackpot.

"The power of that explosion resembles the power of your BFG-9000 Slayer," Vega stated. "It looks like you have a challenge when it comes to power."

The Slayer shook his head in disagreement, but he knew the wizard had something within her. A few seconds after the initial explosion, another blue giant toad popped out of the ground.

He knew Megumin had the fight in the bag and now he could relax. That was until he saw her face down in the dirt with the toad fast approaching. Aqua finally stood up and saw what was happening.

"Oh no you don't," Aqua yelled as a battle cry as she ran towards the toad. "Fear my goddess power you gross cretin! God Blow!!!!!"

The magic-infused punch hit the toad right in the gut, but the toad's body just wiggled a little bit as physical attacks don't damage them. Aqua looked up at the toad with an innocent smile and said, "Ya know, from up close you look really cute." The toad then picked her up with its mouth and began to swallow Aqua as she started to scream, even though those cries for help were muffled.

Slayer immediately pulled out his crucible and ran towards Aqua. In one clean slice, he split open the toads gut and blood/slime started to spew out of the wound. The defeated toad fell on it's back and stuck out its red tongue as a sign of death. Aqua pulled herself out of the toad's mouth and dropped down from its head to the floor below. She was entirely covered in green slime from her hair down to her feet.

She then ran up to Slayer, hugged him and sobbingly said, "Thank you for saving me! I thought I was a goner and I wouldn't be able to go home! And... and...." she continued to sob on and on.

The Slayer's armor was now completely covered in slime and let's just say he was less likely pleased with that. However, he broke off Aqua's hug and went over to Megumin, who was still face down on the ground.
