Chapter 12

January 30th: afternoon

„Haaaaaaank, do we have to drive to Kamski?" Pete whined on the passenger seat and smacked his head back.

„Mr. Kamski was the founder of CyberLife. I think he should know what is wrong with the androids turning into deviants" Hank answered him, eyes on the road with a firm gaze.
Connor was sitting in the back seat and watched out of the window. Pete looked to him through the rearview mirror and a soft smile sneaked over his lips.
For him it was crystal clear: Connor makesld him crazy.
Luckily, Hank didn't catch the look Pete was giving Connor. Not even the Android in question behind them noticed it.

„Well... He should, Hank. But doesn't mean he does" Pete answered and looked to the driving man.

„It's worth a try, though. Hopefully he does" came from Hank who's eyes were focused on the road.
Pete thought about it, causing bad memories coming back.

Flashback
„And this is Kamski's place? Looks noble" he said and looked at the dark grey building.
„Like hell... It looks pretty expensive" he added.
„Well, he is rich, lil' P. What else did you expect?" Hank asked him as he made his way to Pete and stood next to him, eyeing the building.
„Well... I kinda expect that it would be a normal house. As a rich man, I'd never buy such a big and... Kind of a bit boring and tasteless house. But well... Who am I kidding. I like grey" Pete answered him and looked at the building. He couldn't help but he felt something weird. Like something bad was in the building waiting for him.
„Oh wow! Petey begins to get a own taste for colors?" His partner joked and moved his head to face him. Hank was grinning widely at him.
„I mean, you like grey. It does mean something" he added and walked to the building's door.
Pete followed him cautiously and looked around, feeling a bit tensed. Before anyone of them could have knocked on the door, it got opened. A brown haired, female Android stood in the doorframe and looked at both males. Hank was kind of speechless while Pete on the other hand wasn't impressed of the Androids appearance.
„Do you need something?" She asked and eyed a bit to Pete who noticed it immediately. Hank wanted to answer but his partner was faster.
„We want to speak to Mister Elijah Kamski, concerning the increase of deviant cases" Pete answered her, sounding more monotone and cold than he actually wanted to sound like. He could sense that she was a bit tensed from his answer and stepped to the side, letting him and Hank in the building.
„I'll  inform Mister Kamski of your arrival. Just a minute" She said and went through an automatic door.
Minutes later she came back and brought them to another room. On the way to this room he noticed a black room on the side which door was a bit opened and looked at it. The female Android noticed it and closed the door entirely, leading both males to the room Kamski was. There was a pool which seemed red colored but it turned out that only the tiles were colored red. He stepped out of the water and the brown haired android brought him a black bathrobe. Elijah looked at the Lieutenant and his Android.
„Why is this android in civil clothing? Doesn't he have a uniform to wear?" He asked and eyed Pete who was not pleasant with the aura this man gave.
„That's not why we are here, Mister Kamski" Hank interrupted and looked at the man in front of them.
„We are here because of the increase of deviant cases. Weekly there a more and more. We hope that you might have some informations for us" he added and crossed his arms in front of his chest.
„Deviants... They are fascinating, aren't they? But well... I don't really know why they deviate" Kamski answered and his gaze flew to Pete.
„I have a thought about it but I'll tell you then when you first pass the kamski-Test" he added, still looking at Pete.
„The Kamski-Test?" Pete asked confused and looked at him.
„It's just a program with calculations and algorithms. Exactly it's a during-test created by me. So that's why its called the Kamski-Test. Emilie, would you come here for a second?" He called the brown haired Android to himself and pushed her softly down to kneel down. Then he went to a small closet and took out a gun. With slow steps he went to Pete and put it into his hands.
„If you shot her, I'll tell you my theory. But when you spare her life, you'll leave with no information" Elijah whispered. Hank was silence in shock what Elijah wanted Pete to do. Pete looked at the Android in front of him, seeing up to him. There was no emotion in her eyes which scared Pete a little bit. His arm was still hanging down with the gun in his hand. He wouldn't regret his decision. He raised his arm and pushed the gun into Kamskis hand. With a death stare to Elijah he went back to Hank and growled quietly.
