Chapter 4

November, 8th: night

It was night in Detroit and Pete walked through the city, watching everything what's going on. It was also raining and everything was wet. He hummed a song of one of his favorite bands, Skillet. He was a bit disappointed that they changed the melody a bit. But everyone needs a fresh start... R-right?
Quiet but slowly he began to sing his earwig, making sure nobody is listening to him.

„Peel back the skin, exposed to you
Take pleasure in the pain
Tell me what I'm supposed to do
It ain't easy to open up this way" he began with a deep and low voice, bringing up more courage to sing a bit louder and a bit higher voice. But what he didn't notice yet... Was that someone was listening.

„Reachin' for the light
Reachin' from inside
Help me tonight„ he brought up a bit more energy and courage and began to sing right.

„I'm closer to the edge tonight
I'm standing on the ledge, so why

He didn't noticed that someone was following him without making noices. The only thing he could hear would be the whispering of a little girl but he didn't heard it. Suddenly someone jumped in front of him and he scared up, then calmed down.
„Fuck... Who and why the fuck was scaring the crap out of me" he asked quiet angry.
„I'm sorry! We don't wanted to scare you" a female voice resounded. He looked at her. She wore a fake leather jacket, a beanie, and tight pants. To her right he saw a little girl who was clothed a bit warmer than the woman. He analyzed the woman and widened his eyes.
„You're an android..." He said quiet and low.

„You can sing very well" the girl next to the woman told to him. He began to smile a bit.
„T-thank you, lil' one" Pete said happily, looking back to the female android.
„Yes... I'm an android... But this girl and I need help" she said with a low and scared voice. Like, she wasn't trusting anyone.
„Help in what way?" He asked, trying not to sound confused.
„We need a place to sleep this night" she said quiet, protecting the little girls next to her. Pete began to smile.
„You're lucky... I know a place were you and the girl can sleep this night. I also sleep there... sometimes" he said and walked ahead. „Follow me" he called back to the two girls and they started to follow him.
He looked out if there was any police there. Luckily not. He crossed the street to a bus stop, directly followed by the two girls. He went back a high fence made of a wire-netting. Behind it there was shredded plastic hanging down which would give them a bit of privacy protection from curious people.
„Go in there" he said quite but a bit sharp while opening the wire-netting door. The two girls rushed into it. On their right they saw an old abandoned black car. One window was already broken from the first time Pete was hiding and sleeping in it.
„It's maybe not really warm and comfortable for you two. But you are save here. No one would ever think that you two were here" Pete told them, opening the car door to the cars backseat. The girl quickly jumped in.

„I don't know how I can thank you... Um..." The woman wanted to say, but didn't knew his name.
He smirked.
„Please, call me lil' P." Pete gave her as an answer. She began to smile.
„Thank you, Lil' P." She said with a slight giggle.
„By the way, my name's Kara. And the girls name is Alice" the female android told him as soon as she crawled on the backseat to Alice. Pete closed the car door and walked over to the passager side, opened the door and took a seat in it.
He looked in the side mirrow, looking what Kara is doing. She pulled out a blanket and wrapped Alice in it. Pete opened the glove compartment, taking out some sheets of paper and a pencil and began to draw something. He was thinking on Hanks dog, Sumo, and began to draw the big but soft saint Bernard. Time passed by and he didn't noticed that he fell asleep.
