BORA PUSHES THE AUDITORIUM doors open, her shoulders jumping when she sees louis towering over her.
"you're late."
"i-i'm so sorry!" bora stretches her neck to look behind louis, noticing the empty auditorium. "where's everyone else?" her voice echoes through the large room, bouncing off the walls.
"that's irrelevant."
"hmph." bora crosses her arms over her chest and glares at louis before waving her hand at him dismissively.
"is this about what happened in your room?"
her eyes widen and she turns his back on him.
"i said i was sorry."
"sorry doesn't cut it, idiot."
"well then, what cuts it?"
"i want to be in the acting club." she says eagerly. there's a pep in her voice and her stubborn tone was replaced with pure happiness.
"no."
"what do you mean, 'no'?" her eyebrows furrow and a frown spreads across her face.
"you're not special."
"you know, it's amazing that i have to tell you this, but buttercup." her face becomes dangerously serious and her eyes start to water. "that's what my father used to call me."
"so? shat sounds normal. and sweet."
"shut up." she looks up at him with dull eyes and the grip she had on her skirt tightens. "that's what he called me whenever he'd beat me. he'd beat me so much, i could smell death. maybe it was him." she pauses, taking a shaky breath. "he reeked of death. sometimes, when I sleep, i can still hear him. 'how's it feel, buttercup?'" tears fall down her face in thick rivers. "i bet it sounds basic, doesn't it? i hate that it's basic.
"no." louis sits next to her, placing a hand on the small of her back, rubbing it gently. "it doesn't."
"are you sure?" bora sniffles, her eyes fixed on a crooked tile in the floor. "i don't like talking about it much."
"if it helps, you can be an actress."
"no, i'd like to work on set design." a small smile graces her face. "i like to draw. and I'm interested in fashion."
"is it so that you could be with legosi?" louis tries his best to sound emotionless, but a hint of jealousy is obvious in the way he asked it. the way he says legosi makes it sound like he shouldn't be talking about him.
"ah. is.. is legosi in the club?"
"yeah. he controls the lights and helps out with set design sometimes." louis waits for her to reply, but all he gets is silence and the steady breathing of the soft rabbit. "it'll be good for you, i mean. to know someone there."
"i guess." she looks up at louis, holding eye contact with him for a few moments before tilting her head and smiling softly. she didn't know if he was just acting to care or if he was secretly laughing at her, but he made her feel better about it. and that was all she needed at the moment.
"thank you, louis."
