"OH. THAT'S TERRIBLE." her eyebrows furrow, and she stares at the concrete in front of her. she didn't know how to react - she'd just been told that there was a murderer at her new school. "did they catch him?" there's a glimmer of hope in her eyes, and it chips away a piece of bill's soul, because he knows the answer to that question.
"no, he's still out there." he mumbles his answer, not very enthusiastic as to see how she'd respond. she stays quiet for a few seconds, simply playing with the hem of her shirt. the air feels heavy to bill, and he doesn't like the weights being placed on his shoulders.
"uh- sorry, i-" she takes a deep breath before releasing a high-pitched shriek, sighing deeply afterwards and pinching the bridge of her nose. now she had to worry about a murderous carnivore along with all her assignments and legosi.
"jEez!" bill's hands (paws?) fly to his ears to shield them from the eardrum-breaking noise.
"sorry," a goofy smile is plastered onto her face, but her drooped ears betray the feeling she was trying to express. bill stares sadly at her wilted ears, suddenly feeling guilty. "i just didn't know what to say." bora tilts her head, shoving another chip into her mouth. her mind wanders to the things that animals like bill were capable of. animals like legosi.
"you... you really like those." he points at the bag of chips, chuckling and desperate to switch the topic of their conversation. why the hell did i bring up tem? am i really that braindead? he cringes at the thought of himself and bora laughs at the weird look on his face.
"you're right, i do. let's go get more." she covers her mouth while talking out of respect for bill. i'm not sure if he'd wanna see the chewed up contents of my mouth.
"right." bill squints at the small animal as she runs back into the store.
"well? come on!" she peeks her head out from behind the door, coaxing him to follow her. "i can't reach them without you."
"okayy.." bill scratches his head before following her.

"walk me back to school?" bora questions quietly, hugging her multiple bags of chips close to her chest. i don't feel like taking any chances anymore.. i'll have to move around with a duo forever now. bora pouts to herself before releasing a groan. i wish i wasn't so freaking paranoid. that sort of thing hasn't happened in a while.
"sure." bill's eyebrows crease out of worry before looking at the floor. "is this about tem?"
"i plead the fifth." she mutters, gazing at a group of small tulips that seemed to be huddling together under the blossoms of a flowering tree. she couldn't help but feel like the tulips. and she hated it. "today was a nice day!"
"it was, i guess." staring at the setting sun, he shakes his head quickly and glances down to look at bora. "are you new? to cherryton, I mean."
"yup!" she rubs her eyes. the long day was beginning to have a toll on her and her body. "i have to go to acting tomorrow." she stops walking and takes the opportunity to yawn and study bill, taking in all she can about him and his character.
"you're an actress?" the carnivore turns around quickly, his face surprised. bora jumps and diverts her attention back to the tulips.
"oh, no. i could never." bora tugs on her ears, pulling them down. "all that attention might kill me."
"i do it for attention." bill boasts, puffing his chest out. "all those eyes on you just makes you feel different."
"well, i don't know if i like the feeling of different." she whimpers, tugging on her ears harder. there's an awkward tension between the both of them before bora waves goodbye and heads up the stairs.
if the 'tem' story is true, then maybe i should stop making friends with carnivores.
the thought of being devoured stays imminent in her mind, and sends a shiver down her spine. there was a smaller, more oppressed thought in her head.
i'll just have to watch my back, for now.
