It was just like the old days. Talia was nestled beside Dallas, only now, the only thing that connected them was an uneasy peace.
She hadn't necessarily forgiven him yet, and it would take her a while to do so, but for now, things were pretty okay between them.
As she waited for Dallas to begin stirring, she thought back to last night and the events that had led up to her current situation.
Pregnancy was never something that crossed her mind, but with the relentless morning sickness and ever-changing emotions, Talia knew it could be a possibility.
As such, she informed Sodapop that she had a ride home from work, but ended up walking to the nearest drugstore to buy a pregnancy test, and walked home from there.
Talia remained completely calm and normal during dinner, but as soon as each Curtis brother retired for the night, Talia began to slowly break down from the nerves.
Quietly, she tip-toed into the bathroom and shut the door, beginning the process to find out if her ailments were being caused by a developing fetus.
Sure enough, as she paced around the bathroom, the test slowly revealed that she was indeed pregnant.
She slid down the wall in the bathroom, covering her mouth with both hands as she held back a scream.
Of course she would keep it, there was no question about it, but she was only eighteen, and being a mother at that age would surely rock the boat in Tulsa.
Likewise, with Dallas still on the run and clearly not ready to be a father, it only made her more nervous.
She scoffed silently to herself. Dallas was more than accepting of the child, which once again surprised Talia. She expected a freak out, maybe another dramatic storming away scene, but nope.
"Wait... You're pregnant?" The words were barely a whisper out of his mouth.
Talia smiled gently, letting some of the tears she was holding back spill out of her eyes.
"And it's mine?"
Talia laughed aloud. "Of course it's yours, Dal."
A few tears released themselves from Dallas' eyes as well as he stood up from the bed and brought Talia into a tight hug.
"I'm gonna be a dad." He said into her shoulder.
Talia nodded vigorously. "And you better be a good one, too."
She couldn't help but smile at herself now. Talia was determined to hold him to it; either he was going to be the best father he could possibly be to their child, or he would be no father at all.
One hard part was done, but Talia was still nervous about telling the gang, her job, and inevitably... her parents.
The gang, she knew, would be totally accepting of her, but Talia couldn't help but feel a stigma around her whole situation.
Finally, Dallas began to stir next to her, and she knew that soon he would be awake and they could talk about plans moving forward.
"Good morning, baby. It's been a while since I got to say that." A groggy voice next to her said.
She turned her head to find Dallas, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
"Good morning." She said with a small smile.
