A deafening, shrill noise caused Himari to slip out of her deep slumber, still too drowsy to realize what the hell was going on and where the hell that annoying noise came from.
Deciding that the blanket she was wrapped in was too fluffy and warm to be left behind, she immediately abandoned the thought of opening her eyes to examine the origin of that bothersome sound that didn't seem to stop.
She let out a low hum and cuddled herself even more into her couch, pulling the cushion she was currently clinging on to even closer to her body, not even considering to let it go from her suffocating grip. To perfect the fluffy and comfortable bubble she was in, her hand made a tired attempt to pull the blanket over her head to protect herself from the cold and cruel world on the outside that was just waiting for her to get going.
But much to her chagrin, her alarm ignored her silent prayers for mercy and especially for a bit more quality time with her couch, continuing to ring relentlessly, not willing to stop. To increase the annoyance of the situation, the volume of the ringing built up with every minute that passed, in return causing Himari's annoyance to shoot through the roof.
Fuck it. I forgot that the downside of working is that you actually have to get up every day.
Letting out an exaggeratedly loud groan, almost perfectly resembling a defiant brat, she kicked the blanket off and reluctantly got up in a sitting position, trying her best to keep her stinging eyes open.
On top of that, her head felt like she'd emptied the storage of a bar all by herself before she'd gone to sleep the night before, causing her fingers to immediately dart up to her temples, where they softly started to massage them to ease the pain.
But as the ringing she'd started to fade out by now started to increase its volume even more, Himari flinched together, reminding her that something else than her temples required her attention.
Quickly snatching her phone from the table with the intention to make that irritating ringing stop as fast as possible, she was struck by an awful realization as her eyes landed on the display, one that almost made her choke on her own spit.
Her phone wasn't the source of the bothersome noise.
But why...wait...oh fucking no.
Silently praying that she was wrong with her assumption about what was going on, she double-tapped her display to check the time, almost suffering from a heart attack as she spotted that it was already 7 a.m.
Oh fuck. Shit. Damn. I must have forgotten to set my alarm before I fell asleep.
That awful realization was enough to knock her out of her drowsy state of disorientation and smack her right into panic mode in less than five seconds.
The brunette jumped up as if she'd been struck by lightning and rushed upstairs to her bedroom, taking three steps at once, nearly falling right on her face twice. She turned off the alarm on her bedside table she'd set as back-up, in case her phone wouldn't go off, satisfied that the ringing finally stopped to torture her ears.
Man. All I wanted is to get up early enough to get myself ready without having to hurry and worry about being late.
Coming to the incredibly mindblowing conclusion that she'd save a lot of time, she stumbled to the bathroom while she tried to slip out of her clothes. A bold venture that ended with Himari falling flat on her face in the middle of the hallway, mainly because she hadn't fully regained the control over her limbs yet and her right foot had somehow managed to tangle itself in her trousers.
Honestly, how did I ever manage to become a hero? I'm collateral damage on two feet.
Rising back to her feet and rubbing her face to soothe the pain, she dashed into the shower whilst letting out a never-ending stream of cusses.
