She awoke to the sun dancing around her room and a painful ache throughout her body. She slowly sat up, puzzled as to why she felt like this when suddenly it all came rushing back to her.
Her memory started to go fuzzy as she remembered the car trip home but she still managed to remember most of it. She remembered the strong warmth of his arms as he carried her inside and she could still remember the feeling of him gently placing her fragile body on her bed. Unfortunately that's where her memory stops.
She pulled her covers down and stopped at the sight. She was in her bra and undies and her cheeks instantly turned bright red at the realisation that he must of helped her get undressed. She groaned in pain as she rolled out of bed and ran- well hobbled to the bathroom.
Stripping off whatever was left, she turned and stared at her naked body in the mirror. Bright purple/ black bruises covered her stomach and her left eye had also gained a good bruise as well. Her lip was scabbed but healing but she also couldn't shake off the headache that lingered. Must be a hangover.
She stayed in the shower way too long, not wanting the water to stop healing her fragile body. Her mind kept on wandering to the boy who had helped her. She thought she had heard the name "Kylo" but that was a very strange name plus he was on the first order football team so why did he help her?
After over thinking about it in the shower for a while, she decided to hop out. She heard her phone buzz and looked down to see a message from one of her best friends Rose:
'Hey, if I transfer you some money can you go to the coffee shop and grab me a drink, you can buy yourself one with my money and then meet me at my dorm??'
Rey's mouth suddenly felt very parched as she realised how much she needed a drink.
'yeah sure!' Rey replied back. She pulled on her black jeans, white turtle neck and a tan coat before grabbing her purse and racing out of the door.
It was a cold day, the rain really hadn't stopped since she got up and even though it was sunny before- it certainly wasn't now. It hurt to walk, her head issued a dull ache every time she took a step and her back felt very tight as she walked out of campus and across the road to the local coffee shop.
Quickening her pace, she reached the glass door and swung it open smelling the familiar stale coffee and felt the warmth leach through her skin. She joined the edge of the line and checked whether rose had transferred the money.
By the time she got to the front of the line she only just realised that Poe was working today. She felt a smile play at her lips, he looked awful.
"Oh Rey, it's so nice to see you-" he quickly stopped and his mouth hung open a little bit. She was puzzled until she realised that she hadn't put any make up over the bruises on her face and that Poe had taken Finn away before she had gotten hurt.
"What happened?!" he harshly whispered.
"Oh, nothing" she whispered while looking at the floor.
"if I wasn't on my shift right now, I would totally be pressuring you into telling me but since you refuse... Hi how can I help you?" he said with a fake smile.
She placed her and roses order and gave him a small smile.
"I will tell you later, I promise" she said after she had paid. He gave her a look like 'you better'. She walked off to the side and lazily looked for somewhere to sit while she waited for the drinks to be made when suddenly she stopped.
In the corner of the room sat a boy with black shaggy hair. He was extremely tall and he was sipping on a coffee while scrolling on his phone. She stood there for a minute deciding whether or not to go up to him, quite convinced that it was the boy from last night.
Screw it
She approached his table and stood a meter away before his eyes slowly trailed up to her face. Yep it was him. His eyes lit up with recognition and he gave her a small smile.
"I see you're feeling better" he said leaning back in his chair. She gave a small smile.
"I look terrible don't I?" she said with a glum face.
"just a bit beaten up, but no, not terrible" he flashed her a crooked grin before pulling out the seat next to him. She willingly sat down letting her sore muscles relax. She couldn't help the blush that appeared on her face.
"Rey.... Right?" he asked placing his phone in his pocket. She gave him a small nod.
"I actually didn't catch your name last night" she said casually. He looked at her with a face that looked like he was thinking about something hard. Finally his face relaxed.
"People call me Kylo but you can call me Ben" he said stretching a hand out to her. She shook it and gave him a smile.
"I truly am sorry about last night" she said as the silence began to fill the air. He gave her a shocked look.
"Rey... It was hardly your fault so you shouldn't be sorry, I would never have left you there while they... While they did that to you" he said with a small voice.
"something you said to me last night though" he trailed off.
"about, not being the first time you have been punched, what did you mean?" he asked and squinted his eyes. She looked up in shock. Had she actually said that? She didn't know how to respond, luckily at that moment her drinks had been made. She got up with urgency.
"um.. Sorry but I have to go... " she gave him a small wave and ducked out of the shop. He kept his eyes on her through the window as she made her way back to her campus. He shook his head slightly, he liked that girl. Not in a loving way, no. More like he wanted to get to know her... She intrigued him.
