The college feud || a Reylo fan fic!

The wind felt ferocious against her bare skin, as if that wasn't bad enough- it decided to rain leaving Rey frozen to the bone by the time she reached Rose's dorm.

She only had enough strength to knock on the door once and pray that Rose had heard her. After a minute the door finally crawled open, a pair of smiling eyes answered the door.

"Coffee! Thank god! What happened to you?" she says all at once.

"I will explain inside" Rey pushes past roses concerned face and heads towards the kitchen bench. She grabs her own drink and plonks down on one of the stools.

Rose reaches for her own and makes a hand gesture to Rey's face.

"Alright, explain"

Rey told her best friend about everything that happened including the party to what had just happened in the cafe. Rose sat there with a mischievous smile on her face.

"I just told you that I got beaten the crap out of and you're smiling at me" Rey says puzzled.

"Oh yeah, quite tragic but Rey... This guy" she says raising her eyebrows.

"what?" Rey says innocently.

"He seems like he genuinely wants to get to know you" she says placing a hand on Rey's knee. Rey looks up at her with an incredulous look on her face.

"Rose.. " she says.

"what's his name" she says grabbing out her phone.

"Um, I think Kylo ren why?" she says while draining the last of her hot chocolate from her cup.

"Is this him?" Rose says while handing rey her phone. Rey looks at the screen to see an instagram profile pulled up with the username: ky10_r3n

There was only one picture posted and it happened to be a picture of a tall boy with dark brown hair receiving a medal from mayor Organa. Rey looked up at rose.

"How did you do that?" I say with a small smile.

"all I need is a name baby girl, all I need is a name" she said while grabbing Rey's phone. Before Rey knew what was happening, Rose had followed him from Rey's account.

"Hey!" Rey says while snatching her phone back.

"I say go for it, he is hot and definitely your type" she says giggling at Rey's expression.

"Rose you know I don't date" she says with a soft voice.

"I'm just saying, I think you should go for it, I mean he saved your life" she said while draining the last of her drink. Rey shook her head with a slight smile.

There was a buzz from her phone and she looked down to see that he had started to follow her and she looked up and saw that Rose was watching with an 'I told you so' smile.

Rey stayed for the rest of the morning because she had nothing better to do. She remembered that she needed to do a study session and said a quick goodbye to rose and walked back to her dorm. she gathered her books and stuffed them into a bag before applying a light coat of concealer to her bruises. she locked up her room and silently walked off to the public library.

it wasn't too far but since being beaten up, walking places was starting to tire her out more. she walked past the front desk and gave a smile and a wave to Maz- the librarian. she walked to a small table (her table) pushed in the corner and took a seat. she pulled out her earphones and put the top 100 hits on shuffle. she didn't care if she didn't know the song playing because to be honest, she only ended up getting distracted and singing along to the songs.

she was making progress, she smiled to herself once she realised that maybe she could pass this engineering exam. feeling content with the work she had done she decided to pack up and head home. while she walked past the front desk maz stopped her.

"Rey, have you ever considered going to self defense classes?" she said letting her round glasses magnify her small eyes. rey looked suspiciously at her.

"No, why?" she said self consciously.

"my dear girl, even if no one else can see the bruises, I can, I can see the pain and how they got there. in fact here take this" she reached into her pocket and pulled out a business card. rey read the card and realised it was an academy for self defense run by Luke skywalker and Ben Solo. she eyed the card and looked back up at Maz.

"Family friends of mine, im sure I can get you a couple of classes without having to pay, text me when you are free next" and with that Maz turned back to her screen and rey walked off.

surely it wasn't that obvious, was it?

well... it couldn't be terrible learning new ways to defend myself she thought.

she would go to one lesson, she texted Maz as soon as she got home in which she instantly replied with:

tomorrow at 1 o' clock will be your first lesson with Ben Solo free of charge!

rey felt relief flood through her, not only would the lesson be free but it was after her classes of the day meaning she could get ready instead of rushing.

she sat at her small desk re-packing her backpack after her last lesson of the day. the reminder was up on the board letting everyone know that the exam would take place in 2 weeks. Usually she would go home and study but was reminded by a text that she had her self defense lesson. she raced home and showered leaving herself some time to grab a hot chocolate and arrive at the academy with 10 minutes to spare. she walked in to see a man with greying hair sit at the desk in front of her, he looked up and a smile instantly was plastered on his face.

"ah, you must be Rey. I am Luke Skywalker, Maz has told me all about you" he said while shaking her hand.

"Um, Hi, its nice to meet you too" she said with a small smile.

"well come on you can place your bag down there and I will take you to my nephew Ben, your instructor for today" he said gliding to the front of the desk. she followed him into the room and let Luke turn and walk back out before she turned to face her instructor.

she stopped as she saw the tall dark haired man and it all clicked. I mean he did tell me his name was Ben but somehow I just forgot.

he looked her up and down as he realised who he was teaching today, it was her.

"I see Maz managed to convince you to do self defense lessons" he said walking towards her.
