My story begins at Vanguard, obviously. Vanguard is a space station, which you might have inferred from the previous section. I don't want to go into too much detail about Vanguard and bore you, but I'll have to give at least a bit for the following story to make sense. Let's start, shall we?

In 3,750, a ship known as the Corveck was sent to Kepler 22b because of multiple issues on earth including climate change, rising sea levels, etc. It would be stupid to send it out there on a straight path. No, that would take millions, if not billions of years. A company called Hyperdrive invented a way to make manmade wormholes that could cover hundreds of lightyears in minutes. The technology was a total mindfuck even for me, so I won't try and explain it.

Anyway, the Corveck took around 20 years to get from earth to Kepler 22b. Why so long? Well, Hyperdrive's wormholes operate at the edge of the solar system, so the Corveck had to travel past pluto to get to the wormhole and then had to travel more to get from the other side of the wormhole to Kepler 22b.

The plan was to settle on Kepler 22b. Was. Unfortunately, our scanners mistook one of the alien substances on Kepler for oxygen which is why we perceived it to be habitable. Living on Kepler wasn't the only reason the Corveck went there though. Kepler 22b had confirmed methane, hydrogen and helium reservoirs so CryoGas, an extraterrestrial mining company, began a joint venture with Kapsulation, a space-home company. The deal was and still is, that the miners get to live on Vanguard and get taken care of in exchange for a small percentage of the product produced by CryoGas.

However, Vanguard needed more energy to stay in a stable orbit around Kepler and we didn't have enough resources on hand to do it. Therefore, Psychim, a human experimenting company, was brought in to produce a set of genetically enhanced people who could collectively use psychic powers to keep Vanguard in a stable orbit. Those were the first known psychics in the galaxy. Now, they're a common occurrence, like me.

A/N I will admit that this chapter was pretty mundane, but I guess it's useful to have all the required info on hand before actually starting the story, right? Anyway, if you did like this chapter a vote would be highly appreciated.
