The three of us wandered toward the House of Lamentation. I knew this way well, I'd walked it a hundred times. "Someone's eager" I heard Beel state, only then did I realise I was almost jogging, the poor boys carrying all my suitcases and trudging behind me.
"Y/N, dear, I thought only I packed this much!" Asmo declared.
As we drew closer to the House of Lamentation I made out the familiar figures of Lucifer, Satan, Levi and Mammon. My heart was racing and before I realised I was running. "Guys!" I shouted as I embraced all four of them, "I missed you so much!" My voice wobbled as I took it all in, their smells, the feel of their warmth that'd I'd been longing for. Lucifer straightened up, running his had along my hair, "we missed you too Y/N".
"You've missed out on so many anime's!" Levi had a broad smile plastered across his face.
"Well yeah, I guess I missed you a bit." Mammon looked down at his feet, "b-but it's not l-like I like you or anything, Y/N" he quickly added. All the brothers were looking at me, and then I noticed how quiet Satan was being. I'd missed him especially, I'd been closer to him than any of the others.
"Let's head inside," Lucifer spoke, breaking the silence, "we have something important to discuss". I peered around the circle and the boys' faces had turned solemn, all of a sudden I was incredibly nervous for what was ahead of me.
We made it into the living room and around the coffee table was Luke, Simeon, Barbatos and Solomon. "Guys!" I was immediately full of excitement and happiness again, "what are you doing here?!" Luke ran up and hugged me, "I missed you too Y/N!" His arms around my waist, as high as he could reach.
"Down puppy" Mammon quipped, Luke's face growing red, you could practically feel the anger radiating off him.
"Why are you guys here..." my voice trailed off. Everyone was here, everyone besides Diavolo. "Where's Diavolo..?" I questioned quietly. Every face in the room was identical. Eyes deep set and glassed over, pale skin, not the slightest hint of a smile. Everyone was deadly silent, you could cut the air with a knife. "Someone answer me!" I shouted, nearly in hysterics.
Then I heard Satan's sift voice behind me, "he's gone, Y/N. Diavolo's gone." His hand rested on my shoulder.
"What do you mean 'gone'?" I whispered, turning to face Satan. I looked into his deep green eyes, they were tinged with sadness.
"H-he died, Y/N..." his voice quivered, "after you left, something happened, you don't need to know what just yet, but he got sick, we tried to help him, we called Michael but there was nothing that could be done. He's gone."
The feeling washed over me like a tidal wave. Diavolo was the whole reason I was here now, the whole reason I found my true family. I nuzzled my face into Satan's neck, tears soaking his jumper. I gripped onto him tightly. Millenia passed and I opened my bloodshot eyes, my face red, swollen and puffy.
"Why didn't you tell me? You could have called me... I could have said goodbye..." I mumbled into Satan's shoulder.
Lucifer spoke up then, his voice breaking, i'd never heard him upset but he and Diavolo had been so close. "We're all so sorry Y/N. We didn't want you to have to bear the pain. All will be explained in time, but for now, just know that we're sorry, we're all so very sorry" tears laced his cheeks and he brushed them away, hoping I hadn't noticed. I was so confused, so much had happened so quickly and I wasn't sure what to say or do. I gripped on tighter to Satan as he ran his hands along my hair. I had so many questions and I had no clue where to begin.
"I'm sure you have questions," Lucifer spoke up, seemingly reading my mind, "we'll answer them tomorrow as it is very late but, for now, all you need to know is that tomorrow we will hold a funeral for Dia-" Lucifer choked on his name, unable to form the word, my heart panged as I felt his loss, "a funeral for him" he continued, "Michael will be there and we will discuss everything that now has to happen." I nodded, now breaking away from Satan. "You should all head to bed now. Barbatos and I still have to discuss some things for tomorrow."
We all nodded and headed towards the stairs. "Are you coming Y/N?" Levi asked, speaking up for the first time this evening. I told them I'd be right there as I hung back. When the brothers, Luke, Simeon and Solomon (who I discovered were staying with us in the House of Lamentation) were out of sight and sound, I walked back to the living room and gave Lucifer a hug. He felt so cold, I could sense the sorrow that enveloped him. "Y/N.." he mumbled, shocked at the sudden embrace, his stiff composure softened as he wrapped his arms around my waist, his tears seeping into my blouse. "I loved him Y/N..." he whispered, "I really loved him". He raised his head and I dried his tears. "It will be okay, Lucifer" i told him with the same certainty that usually accompanies all his words. "Everything will be okay". I gave him one last squeeze before turning to leave. Barbatos nodded at me, a look that read 'I'll look after him', and I returned the nod as I shut the door to the living room. I wandered up the stairs to my room that I had missed so much. The bed was freshly made, my suitcases stacked in the corner of the room, my clothes emptied into their respective drawers. Besides that, nothing had moved from when I left 5 months ago, everything laid untouched. I sank into my bed and ran my hands across my duvet. I had missed this, but I wished I had returned under better circumstances. I pulled on my pyjamas, brushed my teeth and curled up in bed.
I lay awake for what seemed like a lifetime, remembering everything that happened over the last year, my heart heavy. Eventually, sleep encased me and I drifted into a dream of better days.
*Time Skip*
My eyes slowly opened as I heard the timid nock at my door. What time was it? A quick glance at my clock told me it was 2:00. "Come in" I said groggily. The door opened and a distraught looking Levi, dressed in pyjamas, made his way into my room. It turned out he couldn't sleep, and wanted to know if he could stay with me. The boys had had sleepovers in my room plenty of times before, he pulled his mattress into my room and within minutes he was asleep. I was just about to doze off when there was another knock - this time it was Beel and Belphie, here for the same reason. I understood where this was going. By 3:00, Levi, Beel, Belphie, Asmo and Mammon were on my floor. Apparently Satan didn't get the memo. Once I was certain everyone was asleep, I hopped between mattresses and stray limbs and headed out to find Satan.

The House of Lamentation is eerily quiet at night. Complete silence deafens you. I made my way to Satan's room and gave a short knock. There was no reply but his door was ajar, so I let myself in. His books were strewn everywhere, I was confused, he was usually so impeccably tidy. I saw him laying on his bed, eyes open, staring intently at the ceiling. He was wearing a pair of pyjamas trousers but no top, I could see the top of his boxers peeking above his trousers. It wasn't the right time, but he was so gorgeous, so well built. I loved the way he looked, the way he acted. He was my closest friend here in the devildom.
"Satan?" I spoke quietly as not to startle him, "are you okay?".
"Y/N.. hello. Yes. I was just thinking."
"Your books... what happened here?"
"Well, when I heard about Diavolo I was trying to find something that would help. I haven't had the enthusiasm to tidy it up yet." He paused as he began to sit up in bed. "You know, Y/N, I, how do I put this, well I guess I should apologise. I want you to understand why I didn't message you when you left. It's just that, well, we were so close weren't we? I was trying so hard to forget you, I couldn't cope with hearing your voice. I just missed you and I didn't realise how much I was hurting you." I took him in my arms, I understood, he didn't want to keep those wounds open, he didn't think we'd ever see each other again.

"Everyone is on the floor in my room by the way" I mentioned. "They snore pretty loudly, can I stay here with you...?" I asked shyly. There was no room on the floor amongst the books for a pillow let alone a person.
"Y-yeah, I guess so." I snuggled into bed next to him, I looked up to see his flushed face as he turned away. I wanted Satan but tonight I was too tired, too much had happened and it wasn't the right time. I rested my head on his bare chest, his warmth engulfing me. He was muscular but not rock solid like Beel, comfortable enough for me to easily fall asleep.
He must have thought I'd drifted of, as he planted a small kiss on my forehead and whispered 'I love you'.

A/N = woah long chapter! 1658 words! I guess this is heading in the reader x Satan direction, hope you all don't mind that, it just kinda happened!
