Name: Balder Odinson
Culture of Origin: Norse
God of light and purity
Male
Appearance:
Balder is said to be so fair that pure light radiates from him. His skin is almost pure white, part of living somewhere that seems like it's in a constant state of winter. His hair is golden blond, falling in loose waves to the middle of his back. He is known to tie it back when he's working, but generally leaves it down. Balder, although strong, does not even come close to rivaling his brother's in size and strength. Standing at almost exactly average height, with a lean build, his stature is truly nothing out of the ordinary. His angelic features, his beaming smile, those are what truly mark him as the god of light.
Personality:
Balder, as the god of purity, is the epitome of goodness. Kindhearted, friendly, and charismatic, he is known to be loved by almost everyone who meets him. He is undeniably loyal to whatever cause or person he chooses to follow. Although he will stand steadfast to his beliefs, he makes a much better follower than a leader, and lacks the sternness necessary to truly lead a cause. His worst qualities, a willingness to lie to save someone's feelings, and a distaste of fighting when necessary, both stem from good intentions and otherwise moral characteristics.
Brief History:
The son of the most powerful duo in Norse mythology, Balder was born into a good social standing. He has innumerable brothers, although he can proudly say that the grand majority of them are from the same mother. The very embodiment of goodness, it's only natural that he should be one of his mother's favorites. In fact, whenever he has the terrible, probably prophetic, nightmares about his own death, she's the one who comforts him. She went so far as to extract a vow from every plant and animal in the world that he would not be harmed. Mistletoe was the only exception.
Three Godly Powers:
As the god of light, Balder is able to bring light to the darkest of places with just a snap of his fingers.
Balder is the wisest of the Aesir, and his godly wisdom can help him make even the most difficult of judgements.
Unless one is a figure of pure evil and darkness, it's impossible to hate, or even dislike, Balder.
Fatal Weakness:
Mistletoe, any weapon that has been made using mistletoe can kill Balder.
Token:
Baldr's wife, Nanna, gave him the golden comb she uses for her hair. As it was a gift from his mother when the two were wed, he hopes to keep a piece of the two people who are most important to him.
