Name: Bast (Bastet, if you'd like to be extremely annoying)
Culture of Origin: Egyptian
God of: Cats, Fertility, Protection, Fire Fighting, Dance, Passion
Gender: Female
Appearance: Bast is very catlike in appearance. Not figuratively, Bast actually looks very much like a cat. With you know, whiskers and ears and a cute little nose. Her hair is black like coal and is cut short, creating a feathery head of hair that you are certainly not allowed to pet. Her golden eyes look, you guessed it, like a cat's and hold a cunning sort of amusement to them. Bast is a woman of surprisingly tall stature with a lithe, graceful sort of build. She does have a bit of a sensual quality to her.
Personality: Bast is a feisty goddess, that's for sure. I'll refrain from calling her catty but she can have a rough edge to her at some times. Her cunning nature and ferocity are definitely tied to the forms that she has held in her lifetime. Bast is a warrior goddess and usually acts the part, that's for sure. She does, however, have a playful side and is in a state of almost perpetual amusement. She is said to represent passion and devotion to others, strange for a cat goddess. It is said that Bast is a nurturing sort of goddess, due to her protective nature, but she isn't too sure about that. Bast can definitely get herself into trouble easily but is good at getting out of it.
Brief History: Bast is the daughter of Ra, the Egyptian god of the sun. She protected her father from enemies and guarded him as he made his way across the sky in the form of the sun. At one point, she was said to have killed the monster Apophis in the name of her father. It is also said that she had a promiscuous nature and a large number of consorts, one that included many different gods and goddesses. At some point, she may have been more of a lion goddess but right now she isn't and that's what matters.
3 Godly Powers: Bast has a control over cats, those magnificent creatures. Her godly nature has given her incredible combat skills and has made her extremely good in a fight. Extreme sarcasm is pretty much her only other godly power, considering the first two pretty much cover it.
1 Fatal Weakness: Water. Bast is not much of a fan of the water.
Token: A sistrum, a kind of rattle that was used as an instrument in ancient Egypt. Bast is often depicted with this instrument.
