I had been in a very peaceful sleep until someone went ahead and shook me awake. I had thought it was Percy, so, I ignored it. Then, I noticed the freezing cold hand on my shoulder and I bolted upright. I grabbed the blanket and wrapped my now incredibly cold body in it. Once I was at least semi warm, I looked up and found brown eyes staring at me with an amused smirk. I was confused and then I remembered last night.
"Morning.” Nico said as he crashed back onto his insanely messy bunk.
"Why am I up before the sun?” I asked as I looked out a window.
"We have to leave at sunrise and that will be in thirty minutes. Wake me in twenty.” Nico then closed his eyes and proceeded to go back to bed.
"Why am I up early if you’re just going back to sleep?” I asked him and he rolled over to look at me.
"Don’t girls take forever to get ready?”
“No! That is a stereotype. The only reason I’m never on time is because sleep is my favorite pastime.” I told him and slid back under the covers.
"Well, excuse me. The Aphrodite’s take forever, Hazel does, Annabeth does-”
"Did your sister?”
"I already told you, Hazel takes-”
"No. I mean your other sister.” Okay, I admit, I was probably taking two hundred steps over the line but it was too late now.
"I don’t have another sister.”
“Yes, you do.”
“Is this part of your Apollo blessing because if it is, I’m gonna kill him.”
“No, it isn’t part of my blessings. Truth be told, I don’t think of the Apollo one as a blessing.”
“Her name was Bianca. I saw her last when I was ten and she had just joined the Hunters. I don’t remember much from when she was around. I just remember what she looks like. Her dark long hair and brown eyes that always helped when the nightmares would come around. Her olive skin that held a warm glow when she was happy and a cold dimness when she was sad. Sometimes, I wish that I didn’t remember her at all. Maybe it would make being a child of Hades easier.”
“She sounds wonderful.”
“Bianca was. She was an amazing and strong person.” Another ghost smile appeared but this one was more sad than the others.
“Uh. I think we should start getting ready.” I said before I asked how she died. He’ll tell me when he truly wants to.
“Yeah. We don’t need Chiron barging into our cabins. Shoot! If Chiron notices your absence in your cabin and finds you in here, he’ll go crazy.”
“Chill. We’ll just have to be dressed and ready to go before he checks up.”
After Nico and I had gotten dressed, he took me on a walk. It was still dark out, so, everyone was asleep. He took me to the shore and we walked just above where the waves came in. We walked in a peaceful silence for a while until the wind shifted and I started to shake.
“Do you want my jacket?” Nico asked but I hesitated.
“Are you sure?”
“The cold doesn’t bother me. It bothers you though.” He slid off his aviator and put it around my shoulders. I instantly snuggled closer to the warm fabric. It smelled of vanilla and lavender.
“Thanks.”
“No problem. I understand. Where I used to go to school, the winters where constant blizzards and being snowed in. I hated it.” I smiled and laughed lightly wrapping the jacket tighter around my body. I was suddenly pulled from the camp.
