The heroes managed to fight off Ladybug and Hawkmoth because the two of them were vastly out numbered. Chat Noir had ladybug in a vise-like grip. "Ladybug," he hissed. "We've tried to help you!" He exclaimed. "Please, Marinette." She froze.

"How did you know?" She demanded. He tightened his grip. She winced in pain.

"Same situation, same time, same losses," he told her. She was on her knees, her hands in a tough grip behind her back.

She cried. "You think I wanted to betray you?" She asked unable to move. "I've kept my anger under control for too long." Anytime she tried to free herself, she winced in pain.

Hawkmoth tried to help her, but Cheri blanc fought him off. "Go," she told him. He nodded. He took her to the same place in she'd stayed in for so long.

He let her go. "If you want my miraculous," he told her, "you have to kill me and remove it from my dead body, Marinette.

She gasped. "NO!' She cried.

"That's the only way," he told her, knowing she wouldn't do it.

She fell to her knees and cried. He removed the earrings and did the most unexpected thing.

He kissed her.

"I'm sorry," She cried. "I'm so sorry." The others showed up and saw the defeated former hero. They understood and tried to help her through her pain. She couldn't be Ladybug anymore and would have to live with the consequences. "I'm sorry," she whispered and chose to join her parents instead. She got her wish, one way or the other.
