"Maman! Papa!" Marinette cried for them. The bakery caught on fire while she was at school. They were gone. Forever.

Adrien ran up to her from behind. "Marinette." He comforted her. "I promise you. It's going to be okay."

She shook her head. "They're gone." Her voice was hoarse. "I'll never be able to tell them." She muttered.

He turned her towards him. "I promise." He told her. "I'll help you get through it!" She couldn't talk. She wanted them back. So much.

Suddenly, an akumatized victim was there. Marinette didn't care. Adrien pulled her to a nearby place and told her to hide there.

When he was gone, she transformed, choosing to betray Cat Noir after the battle. She needed his miraculous! Maybe if she asked...?

Marinette's Point of View

*After the battle*

"Pound it!" They said in unison.

"Meet me at the Eiffel tower in 10 minutes," she told Cat Noir and jumped off.

*10 minutes later*

Ladybug was in tears. No one would forgive her after this.

Cat Noir was already there. "Why are you crying, Milady?" He asked.

"I'm so sorry, Cat Noir." She told him. "I know we are trying to stop Hawkmoth but I really need your miraculous!" She explained. "I lost people close to me recently. I miss them!"

"Milady, let me help you go through it." He told her. "You know someone will die if you do this."  She looked away. She didn't want to betray him.

"I miss them! I can't live without them," she cried. "Please!"

Cat Noir shook his head. "We're heroes, Milady. I can help you go through it. I know what it is like to lose someone." She knew Cat Noir was right, but she needed them. She was desperate.

"They meant everything to me. They are one of the reasons I had the courage to do this! To be a hero." She told him.

Cat Noir looked at her in understanding. "Ladybug, I know how hard it is to go through something like this." She needed his miraculous. "But I knew she wouldn't want me to hurt anyone because of it."

Ladybug knew her parents would be angry with her. "I would do anything for them!" She cried. "Please, give me your ring. I need it!" She was sobbing.

"Ladybug, who are you willing to sacrifice to bring them back?" He asked. "What if it's a friend? Or another family member?"

She was on her knees, crying. "I can't lose them! I Can't! I need them! I'm begging you! I want to tell them! Please!" Her voice was hoarse.

Cat Noir hesitated. "I can't. As much as I love you, someone will be lost if you take this path."

"Then, I'll make you!" She cried. Lounging at him, she tried to grab his miraculous. He dodged it, shocked she would do this.

***********************************************************************************************

He dodged her attacks. Ladybug wasn't thinking clearly. Each attack was more brutal. "Ladybug, stop!" He ordered. She didn't.

"I need them." She cried. She kept attacking. He kept dodging. Then, he attacked.

He grabbed her hands, restraining her. "I can help you through it," he told her.

She shook her head. "I didn't want to betray you! But I need them back!" She tried to escape and failed. He jumped, moving them to an abandoned building. He had too strong of a grip on her for her to escape. He tried to calm her down. But she kept fighting against him.

"I am trying to help you!" He hissed. "I've lost my mom and basically have no dad." He told her.

Tears stained her face. "I need them." She stopped fighting, then dropped to her knees. "Cat Noir, I need them! Please! I can't live without them!'

He sighed but kept her restrained. "Milady, I just want to help you. You're the only one I have left that I love!"

"Kitty," She gave up. "I'm sorry. I-I'll try to stop the urge for the miraculous but my parents." She cried. Her voice was hoarse. "I need them!"

He sighed. Milady, I can help. I promise. But I can't give you my miraculous." She was still on her knees, sobbing.

He let her go. "Meet me here everyday at 6 PM and after every akuma attack. I can help."

She nodded. "I'm sorry for fighting you." She told him. "I just really miss my parents!" She couldn't stop the tears.

He put his right hand- the one without the ring- on her shoulder. "It will get better.  I promise." She looked down, ashamed of what she'd done.

"Thank you," She told him. "I can't believe...I chose to betray my friend. I'm not a worthy Ladybug!" The tears hadn't stopped. They would never stop!

She was ashamed of her behavior. How could she even think of betraying her kitty? When Cat Noir left, she stayed.

Alya called her. She answered.

"Marinette, do you want to stay at my house?" Alya asked.

"No. I have a place." She told Alya.

"Okay. Did you see Ladybug during the attack?" She asked. "She didn't smile at all." Marinette winced. How could she not have noticed Alya there? Right! Because she was thinking about betraying Cat Noir.

"I have to go." She told Alya and hung up without another word.

She got all of her money at the meeting place and bought a cot, blanket, batteries and a battery powered alarm for her new home. She had $10.00 left when she was done. She put it back in its' place and went to the abandoned house.

"Tikki," She said to her Kwami. "How can I survive without them?' She asked.

"You have your friends, Marinette." Tikki responded. "And Cat Noir."

"Thanks, Tikki."She set her alarm and went to sleep, hoping for Cat Noir to forgive her.
