Chapter Two - "Hot Chocolate Please."
I groaned as my body came into contact with the hard, gravely ground. Bits of rock cut into my hand from the impact. I heard some shuffling beside me.
"Wha...what the hell..?" A male voice sounded beside me, slightly muffled from the rain. I slid my aching hands underneath me and pushed up, gaining sharp spikes of pain from the stones under my palms. I managed to get my legs to work and stood up, swaying slightly out of dizziness and the pain shooting up my wrists.
I glanced at my palms. I winced and pulled out some extra small pieces of rock that had jammed themselves into my skin. Little droplets of blood began to trickle down my skin. I reached inside my pocket, luckily finding an old cloth, and began to slowly wipe away the blood.
Suddenly a hand fell on my shoulder. I let out a yelp and spun round. There, stood before me was a boy, he looked about my age and his hair was going in all directions on his head. I stifled a laugh at the sight of the sodden boy. That's when I realised how soaked I was. My jeans had soaked right the way through, making them stick sickeningly to my legs. And as for my hair, unfortunately my good must have slipped when I fell because my hair was also soaked and dripping. The only thing dry was my shirt, thankfully, which was under my raincoat.
Glancing back at the boy who was now watching me closely, I noticed he was only wearing a simple red hoodie and some tan chinos. He must be soaked right the way through!
"So, do you talk?" He asked. I blinked back into reality, I must have looked like a perv to be staring at his clothes like that.
Shaking my head I replied quietly to hide my embarrassment.
"Erm, yeah. I-I was just going to the coffee shop."
"Really? Me too! Come on let's get out of this rain!" He shouted through the downpour. I couldn't have agreed more.
Once we were inside, every head in the building turned to us. I felt the heat rise from my toes to my cheeks in seconds. I stared down at the floor, my trainers luckily had managed to keep my feet dry.
I felt the staring die down, so I lifted my head once more. Yeah, everyone had turned their attention back to whatever they were eating, or drinking. I let out a sigh of relief. Other than rain, I hated being the centre of attention. I got embarrassed way too easily. I felt small, cold droplets suddenly bombard my face.
"Ahh!" Was my instant reaction. I turned to see the boy was shaking his head like a dog, ruffling his hair about in an attempt to dry it.
"Oh, sorry!" he apologised with a cheeky grin. I rolled my eyes and looked round for somewhere to sit. There seemed to be a few free tables near the window.
Good, I liked sitting by the windows. Walking over to a small table I sat myself down and took off my raincoat. Hanging it on the back of my chair I let out a relaxing sigh and settled back to look at the menu.
Hmmm...
They had a lot of nice drinks. Some I had tried before, some I hadn't.
Skinny latte
That sounded nice. I bit my lip and continued to read through.
Cappuccino
I used to get cappuccino's a lot back at home-I mean in London. I missed London, it had the best coffee shops.
I skimmed through the rest of the menu, until something caught my eye.
Hot Chocolate
Yeah, I loved hot chocolate. It was just that one casual, simple yet oh-so-nice thing that just drew you in. I smiled to myself and set the menu down, happy with my decision.
"What'll it be love?" A familiar voice asked. I looked up to see that clumsy boy that had ran into me. He had got rid of his hoodie and was now wearing a blue polo shirt under his work apron. Also his hair was dry enough to see it was a dark brown floppy mess.
"You work here?" I asked absentmindedly.
"haha, yeah." he replied, grinning.
You know, he kind of looked like a mix of Harry and Louis. I smiled to myself.
Haha, Larry Stylinson child.
"Yeah I get that a lot." He chuckled.
Oh god, I just said that out loud. I felt a little blush come to my cheeks.
"Crap, sorry I didn't mean to say that." I apologised quietly. He just smiled at me with chocolate coloured eyes and cute, cheeky dimples. Those eyes caught my attention. They showed so much emotion, cheekiness, caring, love, happiness. Probably the opposite to me. Jack always moaned at me for being antisocial, he was the one always on his Xbox! I don't know how long we stayed like that, just staring into each others eyes.
"So, what did you want love?" He asked. Oh no, I had been just aimlessly staring into those chocolate abyss' of eyes. I was acting a lot like a creep today. I felt myself heat up, again. This boy really brought the redness to my cheeks. I straightened myself and cleared my throat nervously.
"Can I have... ahotchocolate, please." I rushed. His eyebrows furrowed with confusion. I didn't blame him, I'd hardly understood what I had said myself.
"Woah, slow down! What was that?" He chuckled. I gulped and put on my best smile.
"Hot Chocolate please." I said, I had finally got that out. He smiled and scribbled something on a little notepad.
"Any hot chocolate in particular?" He asked.
"Could I have s-some cream and uh, sprinkles p-please. Oh and marshmallows?" I replied with a stutter. Why did this boy just take my breath away and make me muddle up all my words?
"Sure!" He said cheerfully, scribbling more words down. "Anything else?"
"No thanks." I mumbled. He nodded and skipped, yes literally, skipped to the counter to make my drink.
