Chapter Eight - Surprise!

"LETS GET THIS PARTAY STARTED!" Mason shouted from across the room, he dimmed the lights and turned on a mini disco ball that we had previously strapped to the ceiling.

I smiled into the flashing lights beginning to circle the room. I poured the last of the lemonade into the jug and stepped back to admire my efforts, there was a long table up against Mason's living room wall. We had pushed two tables together, then placed bowls of chips, marshmallows, popcorn and all other mixes of party food neatly on top. And, although some of us were still underaged, there was a little drop of alcohol for the older groups of people that were to arrive any minute now.

Gasping, I rushed upstairs and dashed through the bathroom door, skidding slightly on the tiled floor. Spinning round on my heel, I turned to face my reflection in the mirror. My brown hair was curled for once, instead of in it's usual, wavy style. I had just the right amount of make up on. A short purple dress waved down to just below my thighs. I frowned as I traced my fingertips along the silky surface. I wasn't used to wearing such short dresses, but if it was just for one night...

Suddenly my thoughts were interrupted as a sharp knock on the door sounded from downstairs. I quickly raced back down to greet the guests. Jack came through the door, his eyes widening at the display we had set up for his party. He scanned the room, past the flashing lights and the food, suddenly setting his eyes on the disco ball, before finally landing back on us. He had a big grin on his face.

"You did this for me?" He asked in bewilderment as Mason suddenly appeared next to me. His lean figure towered gently over me. His blonde hair stood out in the dim lighting, as well as his bright blue eyes that mirrored my own.

"Of course we did! You may be my mean, arrogant, argumentative, smelly, dumbass..." I began with a smirk, but Mason was quick to interrupt me.

"What she's saying is, you're family! And we would do this for family! But don't get any ideas, this is a very special occasion, only for families." Mason shook a finger in mine and Jack's face as he ended his sentence.

I pouted but he ruffled my hair and squeezed past me. I blew my fringe out my face and walked away to put on some music. Of course my instant first choice was One Direction. After a moment of sliding the disk in, 'It's Gotta Be You' came blasting through the large speakers. I cringed at the loud noise, it was a good thing Mason's parents were staying over at another family members house. They didn't even know there was going to be a party!
