chapter one: encounter
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The continuous pounding of footsteps sounded in his ears, his ragged breath catching in his throat as the wind whipped harshly against his face.

This was not how Jimin predicted his night would end.

Jimin's heart was out of control, his fear clawing through him as he ran in long strides. Someone had followed him, someone was after him. Jimin had felt a presence earlier, somehow he recalled it could've been someone from the party.

-

An hour earlier.

Jimin watched with bitter eyes as his closest friend spoke closely with some random chick. Jimin's night was horribly heading south, he had more drinks than he can count, his friends had ditched him and he had a horrible need to smoke.

Jimin slithered past the intoxicated kids, knocking right into Taehyung. The male turned to scowl at the person, when his eyebrows softened and he caught ahold of his drunken friend.

"Jimin, how the hell did you get so wasted?" Taehyung scolded, pulling Jimin upright. The raven-haired boy glared at him with a pout, glancing at the girl beside him who gave him dirty looks.

"I'm heading out for a smoke, you wanna come?" Jimin slurred. Taehyung scrunched up his nose at the mention of cigarettes, he disliked the smell.

"No, thanks. I'll be right here if you need me."

Jimin scoffed, shoving his hands away and walking past him. Taehyung kept his eyes on the boy, his eyebrows furrowed in worry. Jimin was so utterly smashed, that it was a reckless decision to leave him unattended.

Just as Taehyung removed his eyes off him, his attention shifted to a figure who trailed right behind Jimin. Taehyung blinked, suddenly an uneasy feeling settled in his chest.

"Sorry, I'll be right back." Taehyung told the girl, ignoring her complaints as he hurried to catch his friend.

-

Jimin's speed was beginning to falter, his lungs burning as his stamina was shortening. He had only sobered up minutes ago, it was adrenaline pumping through his veins, that seemed to keep him alert. Jimin rounded the corner hoping to lose the person on his trail, nearly tripping over his feet.

He swiftly ducked into a dark corner, hearing the footsteps scurry past him. He covers his gasp with a hand over his mouth, shutting his eyes as he trembles with fear.
