chapter fourteen: true intentions
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

It's been days since Jimin last made his first phone call to his worried best friend.

Jungkook's mood swings had become worse, but it was nothing Jimin couldn't handle. It had become clear to him that Jungkook wasn't taking his pills anymore, whatever he had, he had run out of stock and it was too dangerous for him to go out and prescribe some more. Which only added to Jimin's fear.

Jimin had tried his best to remain as safe and happy as he was on the first day, but it had grown difficult. More memories of that night at the bar resurfaced. The nightmares had recurred. Jimin would wake up screaming and even when he was fully awake, he couldn't stop crying.

He didn't feel safe and with each passing minute, each passing hour, each dragging day, Jungkook became more and more of a mystery to him all over again.

But one thing was for certain, Jungkook hadn't stopped being affectionate and caring towards him, and it was beginning to fill Jimin up with guilt. It was clear the brunette cared deeply for him, but the lies still baffled Jimin, he just couldn't make sense of it.

How could he trust him anymore?

Yet, it was hard to decide what was worse... that he's let an obsessed, troubled, pathological liar into his life or that he was falling in love with one?

Taehyung had told him he'd be here, but that was two days ago, and Jimin was wondering if he was ever gonna show.

He must've dreamt it.

Jimin was beginning to lose it. He didn't know if could play along with the lies anymore.

-

Jimin's sullen eyes had zoned out into the flames, captivating him, trapping him in the same vision.

The building had scorched, explosions rang in his head, the cement, the dust clouding his vision, the screams... it was almost like he was there all over again, and all he could do was stand frozen.

His ears could hear someone calling, someone saying his name, however, it was muffled. But then it became blaring, and louder until he heard it clear as day.

"Jimin, the stove!" The said boy snapped out of it, hissing in pain, and dropped the pan in the sink frantically, putting out the singed breakfast.

Jungkook rushed over, turning off the gas to the stove. He heaved in shock. Jungkook grasped Jimin's quivering wrist in worry. Red marks formed on his fingers from the burn.
