chapter nine: a complex personality
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Jungkook never returned home that night. 2 years dragged by. The voices never ceased. The controlling anonymous beings taunted, teased, manipulated, demanded, abused, and convinced him that he had lost all sense. The loss, the suffering, the death of innocents, the guilt, and the blame, stripped him of a rational human and formed him into a hopeless spirit. Presumed dead, and missing, his name never made the headlines and no one cared enough to search.

Abandoned and forgotten, Jungkook was left with heavy burdens, leaving town, which caused him to eventually turn toward drugs, a way to mute the restless voices inside his head—thus meeting Min Yoongi, a drug dealer at the time that helped and also deformed the young brunette.

This only worsened his declining condition.

Jungkook had developed certain personalities, dangerous impulsivity, greed so strong that had struck him, temptations formed, he made his reappearance in town—and that's when he saw him, a glimpse of his future, a chance to start new again.

He felt as if life had thrown him a second chance and Jungkook leaped for it, rehab, and medications to keep his character in control. He had his eyes set on his high school obsession, Park Jimin, once again,

and the stalking began.

-

Gasp.

Jimin had awoken in cold sweats, body trembling from the convulsions he had in his sleep. Raspy, broken sobs left his lips, the flashes of his nightmares taunting him. He felt a pair of warm arms embracing him, a calming scent filling his nostrils and he leaned into it, hoping to soothe his mind and body.

Jungkook stared down at the male with wide eyes, tears staining his cheeks, sighing in relief, now that his Jimin had awoken from his night terrors. It was morning, they had happened to share the bed last night, waking up in one another's arms.

"Are you alright?" The brunette whispered, brushing a strand of Jimin's black hair behind his ear. "Nightmares about your parents again?"

Jimin nodded after a bit of silence. He had slowly lifted his head and their eyes met, staring at one another for a moment. "Why were you crying?"

"Because," Jungkook began, tightening his hold around the other. "You were suffering and there was nothing I can do. You wouldn't wake up."

Jimin was in shock, the appearance of Jungkook crying was one he had yet to see. In some way, it was making him feel worse, perhaps there was more to it.
