Ok," was all I could come up with, her hand on my thigh was bringing butterflies into my stomach...
"Well since you still don't know my name we can start with that, I'm clementine, my friends call clem though," a beautiful name for a beautiful girl, "Now you don't have to but would you mind telling me... what happened and why you called me at 7:30 on a friday."
I explained the whole situation and all she said was, "wow... umm... ok well thank you for calling me but of all people to call, why me?"
"I truly do not know why, but I just had too," this response was nowhere near a lie, because I had absolutely no idea why I called her it just seemed right.
She had no response, just kept her eyes on the road, I hadn't even noticed where she was taking me, but when I looked forward all I saw was a small coffee shop with the sign in glowing red saying "Open 24 hours 7 days a week,". I hadn't even noticed but we were on the other side of town from where I lived.
"You like coffee?" she asked, catching my gaze."
"Yes, I do how'd you know," I sighed
"Ok... do you need money?" I asked.
"No, I'm ok... thanks though," She said normally." You bring in an iced coffee every day to class," she responded back, a smirk on her face.
Dang she was good , as we pulled into the small parking lot with the perfect view of the sunset. It was almost as gorgeous as she was.
"I'll be right back, two carmel frappes?" she asked.
"Sure I'll Take anything right now," I said, going for my door handle, but her left hand had already beat me to it. She grabbed my hand and put it back on my lap. We were face to face almost within kissing distance, noses just barely touching. But she didn't she just sat there one hand on my thigh, the other reaching up to touch my hot face. Pushing my hair behind my ear, I had forgotten where we were, but the yelling of a man in the distance brought me back to reality.
She pulled her hand away and kept the other on my thigh, "I'll be right back. I can make it faster that way," she almost whispered.
She pulled her hand away from my thigh, I didn't even think about it but I loved her hand being there, resting on me, almost as if I was hers. She looked me in the eyes and we just sat there with no words, just the loving quiet made by staring at each other. This was our time no one else's and nobody to care or interrupt.
Sadly that moment only lasted a few minutes, and then she had left locking the car behind her.
Sooner than expected she came back to the car with coffee in hand, giving one to me and putting the other into her cup holder. She had interpreted my thought but that was ok because I didn't have to picture her now, and I didnt have to ask for her hand on my thigh because she placed it there as soon as she set her coffee down. Almost as if she had done it a thousand times before, and it felt as if she did.
"Where is the next captain?" I asked, smiling.
"It's another surprise if you're up for it... of course?" she said smirking
"Of course," I said, and then whispered, "anywhere with you there is a place I'd want to be beautiful."
"What'd you say?" she asked.
Dammit I didn't think she'd hear me, "nothing," I stammered blushing a little again.
"Gorgeous, I'd go anywhere with you," I swear I could hear her whisper. And her hand coming off my thigh and finding its spot right in my own hand confirmed what I had thought.
We drove for what seemed like an hour but I didn't care because she was here and that's all I wanted. I hadn't even been paying attention to the road, my eyes were on her... Her eyes shining in the dash lights, her hair that lovely shade of lavender I came to know her by. And this time looking at her was different because every time she caught me staring I just kept my gaze. I wasn't afraid to get caught this time... I wanted her to know I wanted her, more than anything I had ever wanted before. But I constantly reminded myself that she was not a prize to be won, she was a person, and beautiful one at that. I needed to earn her and I would give her my anything for her everything.
It was strange I had known nothing about her, not even her name, up until a few days ago, but something in the back of my mind told me that I needed her. And I was okay with that.
And something told me that I did indeed need her in my life.
The road stretched in front of us like a winding trail, begging to be explored
Almost like a reply we pulled into a beach parking lot. I didn't know why but every moment with her by my side I kept in little compartments in the back of my mind almost like me telling myself this wouldn't last forever. Which saddened me because I knew it was true.
"We're here!" she exclaimed, looking ever so excited.
"Where exactly is here?" I asked looking around the empty parking lot.
