real life.
" i never, ever meant to hurt you, baby. "28th of november 2019: manhattan, new york city.
8:35am - chris' manhattan apartment.adella turned the screen off, placing it on the counter beside her and stared at her reflection for a few seconds: hair disheveled from last nights antics, purple marks around her neck which made her blush at just the sight of them and her near naked body dressed in one of chris' t-shirt's, that was far too big for her.
she let out a giggle. sneaking around was fun but getting caught was exciting.
she attempted to sort out her hair as she unlocked the door, and ventured into the kitchen of the apartment overlooking new york, however she winced at the thought of their old apartment - the one she sold shortly after they split up.
it was a painful memory.
the smell of bacon filled the air and she came face to face with a shirtless chris standing over the stove, whistling away to some song on the radio. adella wrapped her arms around his torso and rested her face on his shoulder blade.
their height difference was always one thing everyone loved about the couple but it had never been a problem for them.
"morning baby." chris' voice was deep and full of sleep, making butterflies appear in adella's stomach.
"good morning." to chris, adella sounded even sexier in the mornings as her spanish accent was at its strong point of the day. she gave his stubble a little scratch and then shuffled around him, getting some juice. "you really need to stop leaving these marks on me - they're really hard to hide, you know?!"
chris let out one of his laughs, the one that sounded like genuine love from deep inside his chest, and placed the plate of pancakes and bacon on the island between them. he just shrugged at her, "i've always been a little bit possessive."
adella sent him a sudden forced smile, stabbing absentmindedly at her plate. "i'm not yours though."
she watched his jaw clench opposite her as he rubbed a hand over his face. "c'mon honey, can't we just have one normal breakfast?"
the mood instantly dropped.
"this is anything but normal! i haven't spoken to you in months because you cheated on me! all we did was have sex last night, chris, it's not that deep." his face scowled at her angry response.
"not that deep? adella, you can't be serious. we were in love. you can't just push that love aside so we can have a quick fuck." his fork clashed against his plate and adella winced before letting her anger get the best of her.
"that's what you did, you asshole!"
this wasn't how she had planned out their first morning together in months.
chris has gotten up, dumping his plate into the sink with such brute force that it instantly smashed. he cursed loudly, complaining about cutting his hand and almost without a second thought, adella rushed to his side.
she grabbed his hand, which was giant next to her petite one and carefully wrapped a towel around it. chris' other hand went up to her check, caressing it gently with a heartbroken look in his eyes.
"i never, ever meant to hurt you, baby." his words came out in almost a whisper and tears began to well up in her brown eyes.
adella pressed her lips to his as if he was the only thing on earth that could keep her breathing and clenched her eyes tightly.
she wanted to believe him.
but could she?
