Just as Kate had called it, the news of the wedding spread fast and the royals wedding planner, Sarah, got to work even faster. In less than 6 days Sarah had poster boards ready to present to Meghan and Harry. On them, colour pallets, bridal and groomsman outfits, wedding dress ideas, dinner menus, and music options bestowed the winter wedding of their dreams. All they had to do was choose what they wanted.
Most importantly was the food of course. So on the day before trying dresses, Meghan and Harry tasted cakes and food. Meghan would definitely look even more pregnant now when trying on dresses. Of course they had press a few days after they publicly announced their engagement, but that was short and simple. With minimal exposure to the public and only to a few respected reporters and photographers, Harry kept an eye on Meghan to make sure she was treated with the up most respect. Meghan avoided the inevitable magazine articles on "Who Even is Meghan?" or "The Prince to Marry a Nobody" because Harry made her feel like a somebody and she knew she was too. Of course there had been highlights on her impressive achievements that reporters had dug up, but people reading tabloids and news weren't drawn to the positive unless it involved the word 'free.'
"The car is here!" Kate shouted from the window of Meghan and Harry's home.
"Coming!" Meghan said from finishing off her natural makeup in the bathroom mirror.
Meghan grabbed her long chained purse and headed out the door with Kate who was dressed in a beautiful emerald long sleeved dress. Meghan herself was dressed in black skinny jeans, a button up shirt and had a plaid long coat with ballet flats on.
Once they arrived to the private location via the backdoor, all Meghan could see was white. More white than she sometimes saw on Christmas mornings growing up in Freymille. She couldn't pretend that she wasn't enamoured by all the gowns around her.
"Meghan!" Beatrice, Eugenie, Sophie, and much to Meghans dismay, Charmay, screamed as she rounded the corner.
"We're so happy and excited for you!" The girls went on about dresses they imagined for her. Even Charmay seemed to be enthusiastic about it, though she was giving very different opinions than the other girls. But Meghan appreciated her for being civil anyways.
"You must try on this dress first Meghan!" Meghan heard before getting pulled into a dressing room.
When she came out, she heard a hush of "aws" and stepped onto the podium. Then looking at the several mirrors, she saw herself as she had never before. "Oh my gosh." She was speechless. She touched her hair and the sleeves of the dress. "Wow."
All the girls fawned over the dress and how amazing Meghan looked in it. Meghan felt the warmth and kindness of these girls around her, and it was like she had a new small family of friends in London.
Meanwhile, Harry was with Will and several of his mates trying on suits. Harry's phone kept receiving text messages which he was trying to ignore because they were not coming from Meghan. Instead they were coming from Charmay. They started out innocent, just her congratulating Harry on finally settling down. And then he put his phone away after frustratingly reading the last one that read
Charmay: I just want to make sure that you've considered everything. That she is going to stand by your side through it all. That your fame and job and everything in the likes won't be too much for her that she'll end up resenting you or anything. You'd always tell me when we were little, that your future wife wouldn't ever do what your mom did. Leave the family in any small way that is. But if Meghan got up and left her entire family and friends to move here, whose to say she couldn't do it again. She's only ever known a quite life. I don't want to see you hurt is all. I love you and want the best for you H.
