(Hunter is a fan character from Fire And Flame.)
"Catra!" Hunter ran out of the Brightmoon school bus. He was in kindergarten now, and loved to make friends. But if anyone asked, Catra was his best friend.
Catra and Glimmer were already waiting for Hunter when he ran into the room.
"Hey, Hunter! How was school today?"
"It was fun!
A tablet glowed at Glimmer's side, and she excused herself to answer the call.
Catra sat Hunter on her lap and ruffled his hair. He giggled and opened his backpack with haste.
"We have a school project!"
"Really? Let me see."
Hunter held the paper tightly, and bounced as he handed it to Catra.
Catra smoothed the paper and ran her finger under the words so Hunter could read along.
"We ask our students to work alongside their household to make a family portrait. Please must label each family member to describe their role (mom, dad ect) and why they are special to you."
Catra remained quiet after she finished reading, and sighed.
"Im so excited Catra! We have to make drawings of my mommy and daddy and aunts and uncles-"
"Hunter, we need to talk. Lets go see Miss Lyra in her room, okay?, Catra tried her best to wipe her tears before Hunter saw them. She knocked on Lyra's door.
"Oh Catra! I wasn't expecting you."
"I know. But we have a problem.
"What's wrong? Come in."
Catra and Hunter sat on the gray sofa as Lyra poured Catra a cup of tea.
Lyra read the assignment, puzzled.
"Why cant we start the project now?"
"It might be a bit too difficult, Sweetie."
"Why?"
"Because we don't have a mommy to help us.' Catra hiccuped. She turned to the wall and cried.
"Is she stuck in time like Glimmer's mommy? Do we have two daddies like Bow?"
Lyra sat next to Hunter. "No, baby. You and Catra's mommy is in a better place now. But she's still your mom. Do you understand?"
Hunter shrugged.
"Do you want to see something that belonged to her?"
"Ok."
Lyra pulled a bag from underneath the sofa and pulled out a familiar red mask. She held Hunter's hand to feel it gently.
"Catra wore this for a long time, and the other Magicats have different colors. Red is just for royalty."
"So our mommy was a queen? Who's the king?"
Lyra and Catra exchanged looks. "Maybe when you're older, Hunter."
But if Catra's a princess, I'm a prince?"
"Yes."
"So she's really my family?"
"Yes. There are all kinds of families, some that have mommies and sisters, others that have princess and best friends."
Catra smiled. "Thank you Lyra. I owe you one." She hugged Lyra and settled Hunter on her hip.
"Do know what to put on your project now?"
"Yep. I'll put Lyra because she's nice, Glimmer for picking me up from school, Scorpia and Bow for good hugs, Adora because she loves you."
"Because she loves me?" Catra laughed.
"Yeah! Then you'll get married, and we'll have to draw all your little babies!"
"Babies? Not for a long, long time, bud."
"Aww."
"But the marriage thing wasn't such a bad idea.."
"What's this about marriage?" Adora rounded the corner.
"Adora? Oh, it was nothing. We're just talking about Hunter's school project."
"Hmm. Sure." The blonde smirked.
"Im serious! Your lucky Hunter's here, or I'd get you back for that."
"Sure. What if I take Hunter to Scorpia's?"
"It's on."
"See Hunter? Adora's still your family, even if we argue."
"We have a good family Catra."
Catra smirked. "We sure do."
