Chapter 14; I'll Tell You A Little Secret

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Did...he really just apologized.." Raven muttered to herself rubbing her head. 'So he is a kid of the big three...and Poseidon too...' "Your father," Annabeth murmured. "This is really not good."

"My father..." Percy muttered dumbfounded.

"It is determined," Chiron announced.

All around, campers started kneeling, even the Ares cabin, though they didn't look happy about it. Chiron called out, honoring and formally announcing Percy as the son of Poseidon. "My father?" He questioned again, his voice hoarse, and completely bewildered as it connected.

"Poseidon," said Chiron. "Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Perseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God."

Percy looked shocked, confused, and uncertain; in awe and hesitancy as he watched the symbol of power fade. His heart thumping wildly as fear and horror seized in his chest. His mind raised back to his earlier conversation with Grover- he was illegal in this world...

The moment he found a safe place, a home, and he wasn't supposed to be alive to see it.

The color drained further as Percy took a step back, his feet back in the waters before tilting his head down, not able to take all these stares. He tried to ignore the comforting feeling of the stream against his ankles. Slowly everyone began to stand, they stared in uncertainty and anxiousness, not knowing how to go about this. Chiron was about to move to speak to Percy, and as it would seem as was Luke, but Raven walked forward quicker then them all, passing by Annabeth while giving her a comforting pat on the shoulders.

"Come on Percy, I'll help you move into Cabin 3," Raven offered, tilting her head to the path that exits the woods.

Numb, Percy nodded and slowly moved his feet. Nearly dragging before he stiffened to stand board straight, shoulders straight as he held his head up. The look of his eyes still screamed uncertainty but his posture looked less fearful.

Raven walked closer. Laying her hand on the middle of his back and guided him back to the cabins. Trying to ignore the understanding glimmer in Chiron's eyes that he casted to her before calling out that they are dismissed and that Hermes Cabin held the laurels.

They walked in silence, gathering his small bit of things in Hermes cabin and rolled up his sleeping bag before moving to his new cabin. Raven stood outside his door, silently handing over his things before sighing, noting that people kept staring and keeping such distances. "Come on," Raven said when he put his last thing- the Minotaur Horn away, hung up on the wall.

Percy looked at her, confused. She moved her head towards the lake path. "Come for a walk with me Percy. I want to talk with you for a bit."

He stared for a moment before looking down, rubbing the back of his head. "I kinda just want to head to bed-"

"It'll be a quick chat Percy, please." She asked, closing her eyes and letting out a low, suffering sigh.

He looked at her, studying her face before looking at the lake as if to see if another Hellhound will leap from the shadows. His shoulders slouched. "Fine.." Percy finally agreed, walking out his cabin door and closing the door. His hands stuffing themselves into his pockets.

The older teen smiled slightly, reaching forward and unstrapping a piece of armor he forgot about. "Great, and I'll return this to the armory when I'm done with our chat. Come on,"

It only took a few short minutes to get to the pier, Raven sat at the edge, her legs dangling off the side nearly touching the gently lapping waves underneath. Slowly, Percy followed her lead, sitting with his legs over the edge, staring down into the darkened waters while Raven stared upwards into the night sky.

"Don't change yourself or recede from this Percy.." she began so suddenly, startling Percy as his head swung to look at her. "I-"

"I can see it, pretty sure everyone could if they weren't focusing on other things. You are scared of what this means. Being a child of the big three." She turned and looked at him, her flaming blue eyes meeting his sea green. She looked so sad, so tormented.

"What do you know?" Percy muttered bitterly, looking back down trying to shake off that haunted look of her eyes from his mind.

Raven looked at Percy for a moment longer. "I'll tell you a little secret then." She said, looking around them briefly making sure they were alone. Before breathing out. "Swear on the Styx you won't tell anyone of this, please. And please..don't..don't hate me.."

Percy stared confused, "the Styx..it's that serious unbreakable promise." Raven nodded, "I understand if you don't want to Percy. You've been through a lot tonight, with nearly dying then being claimed." She breathed out a sigh. "You can think about it. But know, I know more than you think. So please, don't change yourself or question your abilities just because of a simple claim. In essence you are Percy Jackson first. Your identity doesn't depend on your parents. Alright? Your greatness will be your own. Come on, it's late and the Harpies will be out on patrol soon."

He nodded, silently mulling it over as he followed. "Thanks..thanks Raven.." he said at his cabin door.

She grinned, "hey, I'm here to support you Percy. No need to thank me. I'll be seeing you tomorrow for some practice alright? Remember breakfast is eight, and get yourself some sleep." He nodded, closing the door behind him.

Slowly Raven's smile slipped, looking down at the piece of armor still in her hold. She walked to the armory, dropping that off before trekking to the Big house. Ignoring the fact someone was watching her from the shadows since she brought Percy to the cabin. She kept a figurative eye on this figure. A thoughtful frown on her lips as she knocked on the porch door before just entering.

"Ah Raven, child is everything alright?" Chiron questioned face morphing into worry at the expression in her eyes.

"I'd like permission to study the woods tonight."

Chiron's eyes widened, body stiffening, understanding what she wanted to do. "No- it's too late. Wait for tomorrow." He quickly said, not wishing the room for argument. Her eyes narrowed, for a brief moment the shadows around them seemed to darken. "You seem to forget who I am the child of, and what condition I have. The monsters in those woods can't touch me. And whether or not I get permission-"

"I know!" Chiron closed his eyes, breathing in and out, before reopening his saddened brown eyes and looked down at her, shoulder's slouching. "I know...but the night.." he glanced cautiously outside. "I'll be fine. Let me investigate. This is a proving danger to camp itself. I need to find where the summoning happened. And any signs or hints of.." Chiron nodded solemnly, "go then, just be careful Raven." He requested shakily, casting glances to the night sky. Raven nodded once more, turning on her heel and making no worded promises.

She left into those woods that night, her gauntlets clasped in her wrists and nothing else. She was a phantom at the side of the other campers eyes. Black hair blending with the surrounding shadows with only her camp shirt standing out like a beacon.
